Mental mistakes will kill your winning opportunities. Before u can win a game you can't lose one. — Bret Bielema (@BretBielema) February 3, 2013 If I had to give one piece of advice to coaches looking to embrace social media it would probably be to keep it strictly to commenting on your current team and only your current team. Don't argue back with rival fans, don't tell us Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema might be wise to take my advice. It's free Bret, so feel free to help yourself. Bielema may have been caught committing a minor violation of NCAA rules when he accidentally tweeted the name of a potential recruit, Andy Bauer. Bauer is a four-star offensive tackle who is currently lined up in the Ole Miss recruiting class for 2014. Auburn blog College and Magnolia made sure to retweet the potential violating tweet before Bielema could erase the tweet in question Wednesday night. RT @BretBielema: Andy bauer — College and Magnolia (@CollegeAndMag) July 11, 2013 While the rules concerning social media under NCAA policy may be archaic in some respects, there is little gray area here. Tweeting at recruits is a simple no-no for coaches, recruiting staff, players and fans. Bauer committed to Ole Miss in March, but that has not stopped Bielema and his staff from making a push to flip his commitment over to the Razorbacks. In June Arkansas stuffed Bauer's mailbox with over 20 handwritten letters, which in fairness is relatively mild in SEC territory with some of the other mailbox stunts we have witnessed previously. Bielema has been a trip on Twitter since joining the Razorbacks. From dueling with disgruntled Wisconsin Badger fans to going tweet-to-tweet with rival coaches, Bielema is entering his SEC tenure as brash as he ever was in the Big Ten. You have to think that we are just getting started. If there is something to be said about Bielema's bad Twitter habits it is that he gets people talking about him. In a division that features Nick Saban and Les Miles and sees Kevin Sumlin and Hugh Freeze turning heads, perhaps the old adage suggesting there is no such thing as bad publicity is the play for Bielema. He tweets without fear, and if players see that as a sign of his true character, that could sway some opinions about Arkansas moving forward. But for Bielema's best interests, sometimes it is best to pause and think before you tweet. Helmet sticker to SB Nation. Kevin McGuire is the host of the No 2-Minute Warning podcast. Report: Angels, Rangers talking Josh Hamilton trade

Fresh off news that Josh Hamilton’s disastrous tenure with the Los Angeles Angels is likely over, comes this report from Yahoo’s Jeff Passan indicating that the Angels are in “deep discussions” with the Texas Rangers in a deal surrounding Hamilton. On the field, it’s not much of a surprise that the Angels could work out a deal for the ultra-talented outfielder. However...

Crabtree on joining Raiders: 'Ain't got nothing to lose'

The San Francisco 49ers let wide receiver Michael Crabtree test free agency after an uneventful year that saw him put up the worst full season of an already average career. Crabtree, who actually sat on the market for quite a long time, is going to now test his luck with the Oakland Raiders. Chatting about his new club after working out with the Raiders this week, Crabtree admitted...

Report: Hardy gets in 'verbal altercation' with teammate

New Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy may not actually find the field in the regular season until Week 12 after the league suspended him for 10 games this past week. This doesn’t mean that Hardy won’t be making news around Cowboys camp until he actually suits up for the team. Friday’s news is not of the good variety. Hardy, who sat out all but one game last season...

NFL exec compares Jameis Winson to JaMarcus Russell

Jameis Winston arguably is one of the most heavily scrutinized football players in the history of the NFL Draft and an unnamed league personnel personnel executive made one of the most unflattering comparisons that can be made when predicting the career prospects of a future NFL quarterback. The longtime executive in personnel, per a Milwaukee...Read More The post Unnamed NFL executive...

Report: Chris Sale wanted to fight Yordano Ventura

Chris Sale reportedly still had some unfinished business with Yordano Ventura following his ejection Thursday night. The Chicago White Sox ace was in the middle of the all-out, bench-clearing brawl that broke out in the seventh inning of last night’s game against the Kansas City Royals. Sale, who was one of five players ejected from the game, was all sorts of fired up after Adam...

NFL does not care about Rams' future in St. Louis

Earlier this week, St. Louis’s stadium task force traveled to New York City to meet with the NFL and present their plans for a new riverfront stadium by the Arch. Rams COO Kevin Demoff was there, but don’t kid yourselves. Demoff’s presence was just a courtesy. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Rams are as good as gone from St. Louis next season. When a person as rich...

Eagles VP Ed Marynowitz says he's not Chip Kelly's 'yes man'

The belief in NFL circles is that Chip Kelly is in complete control of the Philadelphia Eagles with owner Jeffrey Lurie allowing him to oversee the football operations at his sole discretion. But Eagles vice president of football operations Ed Marynowitz begs to differ, and made it clear he’s simply not some stuffed suit with...Read More The post Eagles VP Ed Marynowitz says he’s...

Jonathan Papelbon wants out of Philadelphia

For everything that’s gone wrong in Philadelphia this season, one of the things that has gone *right* is the performance of closer Jonathan Papelbon. Papelbon has thrown 6 1/3 innings, struck out six hitters, hasn’t allowed a run or walked a hitter, and has converted all three of his save opportunities. But because the Phillies are awful, Papelbon hasn’t gotten much action...

Is Le'Veon Bell's knee finally close to healing?

Pittsburgh Steelers’ running back Le’Veon Bell injured his right knee late last December. The hyperextension he suffered was reportedy only going to take a few weeks to heal. So by late in January, Bell reported that his knee was “close to 100 percent.” That was pretty on-par to the timeline for healing. Somehow, nearly three months later, we are hearing another report...
