The Weirton (W.Va.) Daily Times surely didn’t mean for this typo to get into the Sunday paper.

No matter. This accidental bit of word greatness accurately wrapped up the Pinstripe Bowl. The Mountaineers lost 38-14 to Syracuse in Saturday’s game, and really, this typo pretty much sums up the last half of West Virginia’s 2012 season. The Mountaineers started the season 5-0 before entering a tailspin and finishing 7-6.

It’s graphic imagery … but still spot on.

West Virginia, 'Cuse need to be separated

Tempers flared in the snow between the Big 12 West Virginia Mountaineers and the Big East Syracuse Orange. This field in complete snow with all the players wrapped up in gear to keep them kind of warm. Patches of snow are left on the ground and player’s breathes can be seen even on your home television. Would that stop these teams from a pre-game brawl? Absolutely not. The New...

2013 NFL Draft: Did Geno Smith Hurt Draft Stock With Pinstripe Bowl Loss For West Virginia?

Geno Smith played in his final game as the starting quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers in the 2012 Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium before he prepares for the 2013 NFL Draft. Suffice to say, things did not go how Smith would have scripted his final college football game of his great career. It was one thing for the high powered offense of the Mountaineers to get stifled...

What happened to West Virginia?

It's a question West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen didn't particularly want to answer after his team's 38-14 loss to Syracuse in Saturday's Pinstripe Bowl. But as the curtain closed, amid a raging snowstorm, on a fruitless 7-6 season that no one could've foreseen, it's one that begged to be asked. What the heck happened to the Mountaineers? See, it wasn...

The official Orange Bowl Twitter account takes a shot at WVU

Whoever is running the @OrangeBowl definitely doesn’t lack a sense of humor. In last years’ Orange Bowl, the West Virginia Mountaineers defeated the Clemson Tigers 70 to 33 in what was a complete blow out. West Virginia subsequently put up a billboard to display the score of the game that also happened to be their speed limit. Well, whoever is running the Orange Bowl’s Twitter...

West Virginia vs. Syracuse, Pinstripe Bowl: 5 Reasons To Watch

For some, not every bowl game is worth watching.  But we all saw what West Virginia did to Clemson in last year's Orange Bowl, a 70-33 blowout win for the Mountaineers.  This season, WVU started 5-0 behind ridiculous play from QB Geno Smith.  However, due to their horrendous defense, ranked 116th in points allowed, West Virginia slid to just 7-5 before qualifying for the Pinstripe...

Minor league team holding Seinfeld night with Keith Hernandez bobblehead

One of the greatest collisions of baseball and pop culture occurred when Keith Hernandez appeared on Seinfeld in 1992. The former Mets first baseman was a guest-star on a one-hour episode titled “The Boyfriend,” in which Jerry meets Hernandez and the two strike up a friendship (fueled by Seinfeld’s man-crush). To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Seinfeld‘s TV debut, the...

Should the Giants begin looking for Eli Manning’s successor?

At 33 years old, Eli Manning is no young quarterback. He’s been an integral part of the Giants’ roster since he joined the team, and he’ll likely continue to be an integral part of the team for the next half decade or more. Still, he’s at an age where the Giants need to begin considering their options in the post-Manning years. Will they throw everything they have at trying...
