The topic of gay athletes in both professional and amateur sports has been sweeping the country lately.

Superstar hoops phenom Brittney Griner, who was just selected No. 1 in the WNBA Draft, recently revealed that she was gay after being drafted.

Several collegiate athletics programs and professional franchises have also adopted the You Can Playcampaign. Their message is simple: If you can play, you can play.

It’s a sensitive subject in America and athletes like LSU running back Alfred Blue aren’t helping to ease gay individuals’ minds as they struggle with the idea of opening up.

When asked about gay athletes by The Daily Reveille, Blue gave a response that was questionable at best.

“Football is supposed to be this violent sport — this aggressive sport that grown men are supposed to play,” said senior LSU running back Alfred Blue. “Ain’t no little boys out here between them lines. So if you gay, we look at you as a sissy. You know? Like, how you going to say you can do what we do and you want a man?”

You can go ahead and mark that comment down with one of the worst of all time.

Blue is heading into his senior year for LSU. For his sake, hopefully Les Miles puts a nix on any future interviews with the running back.

  • nothing wrong with his comment, if a aposing player is a sissy i imagine alferd will run his ass over, no matter if the defender" want a man" or, want a woman. I think this a challenge to all gay linebackers to "man up" and put old blue in his place.
  • He's entitled to say what he wants, but it probably never occurred to him he probably already has gay colleagues. If not at LSU, opponents in the SEC, some of whom may already have mowed him down. And if not in college, then definitely if he's drafted. He WILL meet gay NFLers. (He may not know it, though.) Has he ever heard of Jerry Smith? Roy Simmons? Esera Tuaolo?
  • Speak your mind. To hell with "politically correct". This country has turned into a bunch of wimps! If he is man enough to say it, he is man enough to live with any consequences! I have good friends that are gay that think the same way.
  • Yep... don't worry my friend because you all seem to end up in prison eventually and then you will be gay also. God help your children....
  • What? In today's world we don't have freedom of speech, unless it is PC? BS! Many agree with him. The only disappointing thing about his comment is that he is a senior in college and he still uses garbage grammer. What a shame that he wasn't taught better, starting in kindergarten. It is barely recognizable as English.
  • PC is not the norm, no matter what some published people say. All polls show the great majority are straight and dont want to be forced to acknowledge your perversions.Keep it in the closet where it belongs and then who cares.
  • Hey they want to partner up with each other
    be a boy scout
    now play football
can we just have some normalcy in football...
I can see some gay player think he's in the shower with a bunch of super models and that will not work for college or NLF regardless how it hurts...
