ANN ARBOR, MI - SEPTEMBER 05: Tate Forcier #5 of the Michigan Wolverines celebrates with Denard Robinson #16 after Robinson ran for a long first quarter touchdown against the Western Michigan Broncos on September 5, 2009 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. William Gholston, a former Five Star recruit out of Detroit’s Southeastern High School, chose the Michigan State Spartans over their instate rivals on where to play his college ball. During the 2nd quarter of Michigan State’s 28-14 defeat of Michigan, the imposing 6’7” Gholston pulled a cheap shot on Michigan’s Denard Robinson. I would classify this as a dirty play and something that you don’t like seeing as a fan. Intentionally trying to injure a opposing teams player is cowardly and inexcusable. Interestingly enough later in the game, Gholston who was never ejected from the game, landed a right hand to the face mask of  Michigan’s left tackle Taylor Lewan. In the post game presser Denard Robinson and Brady Hoke were asked about the dirty play. Here’s both response via MGOBlog. (Denard) Did you feel like they were playing dirty? “No. We were playing football. It’s a dirty game.” (Denard) Was it a cheap shot? “I don’t know.” (Hoke) Did you prepare your players for the dirty play
