Although Alabama has been perched on top of the college football world for quite some time, head coach Nick Saban suggested on Wednesday that there may be another team who is more deserving of the No. 1 ranking than his Crimson Tide are, namely undefeated Florida State, coached by former assistant Jimbo Fisher."I think Jimbo has done a fantastic job," Saban said during his press conference. "You know, I always thought Jimbo was one of the best coaches we ever had. ... He did a fantastic job for us and I think he's done a fantastic job (at FSU)."I think, probably, if you look at the whole body of work and the way they beat people they're arguably the best team in the country right now," Saban said. "And they weren't that when he went there. So they've made a significant amount of improvement."And he's done a very good job of recruiting and developing the players they have in the program. They've played really, really well and improved each year he's been there."If both teams keep winning, it's a foregone conclusion that they will meet in January's title game, with the Tide shooting for their fourth championship in six seasons.Via USA TODAY

Alabama Football: Saban to Texas rumors are ridiculous

It’s irrational, it’s sickening… it’s everything you would expect from Alabama football fans. I’m talking about how Bama fans are still reacting to rumors that Nick Saban is heading to the University of Texas. Everything from, “he wouldn’t” to “I can’t blame him, he’s already given us so much” to “I don’t know how I would survive” have crossed the board...

Nick Saban Rips in to Reporter that Asked Him About A.J. McCarron's SI Cover

Nick Saban is a no nonsense, football oriented kind of guy (in case you didn't know). He is not in to the all the extraneous crap that fills up space for newspapers and web sites. As long as he has been coaching football you would think reporters that regularly cover him and the Alabama football team would know this. Well, apparently one has still not figured this out--and...

Even The Weather Channel Knows That It Needs To Produce For Nick Saban

Alabama head coach Nick Saban demands a lot from his players and expects that they’ll be prepared both mentally and physically come game day. The guys over at The Weather Channel have taken notice. Check out this hilarious conversation between whoever runs TWC’s Twitter account and SBNation’s Spencer Hall from late last night. It appears that Saban really wants to gain every...

Saban not pleased with being asked about A.J. McCarron's SI cover

Do you take Nick Saban for the type of person who reads magazines? If you do, don’t ever tell him, because he apparently doesn’t have the time of day for reading a few articles, and he gets offended if you think he does. Tonight a reporter asked Saban what he thought of AJ McCarron’s new cover on this week’s Sports Illustrated, and Nick was not pleased. His response was...

Nick Saban: “Florida State Is Arguably The Best Team In The Country”

Earlier this season, Alabama head coach Nick Saban called LSU’s offense “the most explosive” he’d seen all year. He followed that up last week by calling Mississippi State “the best 4-5 team” in the nation. Well, the hyperbole continued today when Saban told reporters that Florida State is “arguably the best team in the country.” Saban was responding to a question...

Nick Saban did not know AJ McCarron is on the cover of SI

There are times when a coach must answer questions about his players that may not involve actual games or playing time. Most coaches will at least humor the reporter asking the question, but not Nick Saban, he’s all business.
