Nick Saban wants his players focused for the national championship game and not getting lost in all the hype surrounding the team. In his quest to have his team achieve the proper mindset, Saban reportedly banned ESPN in his players’ hotel rooms. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Tom Rinaldi said Saban had the team’s hotel make ESPN unavailable in players’ hotel rooms since Sunday. Yahoo! Sports Dan Wetzel reported something similar. That’s a classic Saban move, if true. It’s also smart. The last thing Alabama needs entering Monday’s BCS National Championship Game is to hear how great they are and how they’re favored to beat Notre Dame by 10 points. Believing one’s hype often leads to teams playing with less motivation for a game. Remember how things were leading up to the 2006 Rose Bowl? ESPN spent weeks fawning over USC and trying to decide where they ranked among the best college football dynasties of all time as if they had already beaten Texas. Sure enough, the Trojans los...

Two Alabama players sent home

Two Alabama players were reportedly sent home just three days before the National Championship Game for violating team rules.

Nick Saban lacks human emotion

There is something emotional wrong with Alabama head coach Nick Saban.  It seems painful for him to experience joy or happiness.  The montage above consist, what humans would consider, happy moments from Alabama’s BCS National Championship victory over Notre Dame. If there is one thing that Nick Saban hates more than losing, its winning. Can I please take a moment to point out...

Alabama Fan Names Baby After Coach Nick Saban After BCS Title Win

SEC fans are a passionate bunch, but Alabama fans take the cake. Can you fault them? Their football team wins a ton. A die-hard Alabama fan, who is days from giving birth, wrote on her baby bump, “If Bama wins tonight, I’m naming this baby Saban.” The Crimson Tide romped to a 42-14 blowout in the BCS National Championship over Notre Dame, so local Alabama hospitals can be...

Nick Saban in class all by himself

You'd just like for someone to throw it back in his face once. Just one time so he can get his, to show that he can't just do anything he wants. He is one of those guys who seems to be laughing at you and at everyone else. The problem with that is that Nick Saban actually can, in fact, do anything he wants. No one can touch him. Saban is now dominating college football...

Saban: Bama players should "honor the opportunity"

Alabama coach Nick Saban says he and his team ''honor the opportunity'' to play for a national title. Speaking on Sunday morning, a day before the second-ranked Crimson Tide faces No. 1 Notre Dame, Saban said that means getting players to stay focused on the moment and what they can control. Saban says ''great preparation gives you the confidence to do that...

Alabama Wins Another Title: Crush Irish

Alabama football is good. There’s no way around it. No other way of saying it. Alabama is a good football team. Say what you want about Nick Saban and his demeanor as a head coach, but the guy has simply put together one of the best programs in college football history. The teams that Alabama has had the past couple seasons could, in my opinion, compete with and beat any team you...

Letter to Nick Saban

Dear Coach Nicholas Lou Saban, Greetings from the warm, sunny beaches of California (I’m actually in a coffee shop, but it’s close enough to the water). By the time you’re reading this, hopefully you’re kicking back, enjoying a sandy beach of your own, and reflecting on your recent achievement of winning back to back championships (three out of four). Hopefully, you’re...

Alabama AD made a brief stop at Notre Dame

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated.) By JOHN ZENOR AP Sports Writer Mal Moore's career has been intertwined with Bear Bryant, Nick Saban and Alabama football. The Crimson Tide athletic director also worked for another member of college football's elite, spending three years as a Notre Dame assistant under Gerry Faust in the 1980s. The teams play Monday night in the BCS championship...

NFL Draft 2013 Big Board: Linemen stack the board & number one pick still wide open

With the NFL Draft just a few months away, there still looms much uncertainty as to whom will be drafted number one overall in 2013. The upper echelon of this year's NFL prospects is full of offensive and defensive linemen, but this class lacks in premiere skill players. 13 total linemen are in the top 20 rated NFL prospects below on the big board, six on offense and seven on...

Grading the BCS Championship Game

Seven straight. A run unlike any college football has ever seen continued as Alabamas Nick Saban held aloft the crystal football, giving the SEC another championship and the Crimson Tides second in a row and third in four years. Second-ranked 'Bama dominated No. 1 Notre Dame from the get-go, rumbling 82 yards, capped by Offensive MVP Eddie Lacys 20-yard touchdown run en route...

Winners and losers from the 2012-13 bowl season

The 2012-13 bowl season ended with 35 winners and 35 losers, but not all victories and defeats are created equal. Alabama and Nick Saban were...

From A Masterpice to Sheer Dominance: Alabama Wins Another National Championship

It was at this time last year, on the morning following Alabama’s 21-0 beat down of LSU in the 2012 BCS National Championship when I wrote a column proclaiming the win “Nick Saban’s Masterpiece.” That morning I explained how the victory was a beautiful convergence of a brilliant coach and talented team, executing a flawless game-plan that was as close to college football...

Alabama Keeps The SEC On Top

For the seventh consecutive year, the Southeastern Conference has delivered the BCS National Championship. And three of those seven have come via performances of Coach Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. Here are notes on the game in Miami Gardens, Fla., where the Crimson Tide defeated Notre Dame, 42-14, Monday night.

Saban uses video of Mariano Rivera to inspire 'Bama team

Mariano Rivera may pick up a save tonight without even jogging out from the bullpen if Alabama captures the BCS National Championship with a victory over Notre Dame. It wouldn't go down in the record books as career save No. 609, but could play a small part in the history of Alabama football, nonetheless. Alabama head coach Nick Saban said he had his players watch a video of...

Alabama Stomps Notre Dame for Third Title in Four Years

Well...that's what a dynasty looks like. Alabama rode into Miami as the biggest favorite in BCS title game history, and rode out with their third title in four years (though they'll probably claim six of them) and a vice grip on the sport like we haven't seen in decades. The Tide extended the SEC's title run to seven years, became the first champion to repeat in...
