Head coach Charlie Strong met with the media on Monday afternoon to preview the Cardinals season opener against Ohio. Strong and his team have finished fall camp and are now focusing on their first opponent of the season. Senior linebacker Preston Brown & senior center Jake Smith also spoke at today’s presser.
–Coach Strong says as of right now the staff knows which players will start. Each position has had someone step up and solidify themselves as the starter.
–Strong noted that the biggest weakness on the team last year was tackling and that was something that has been a big focus in fall camp.
–18-25 players will be used as pool of ‘coverage guys’ to improve kickoff/punt coverage from last season, which was also a big weakness for the team.
–Ohio’s win at Penn State last year appears to be something that Strong has really stressed to his team. Strong along with Brown and Smith all spoke very highly of Ohio and don’t appear to be taking them lightly.
