Quinton Patton La. Tech Today is the release of the College Football Universe Offense All-America Team and my official nominations for the FWAA All-America Team. Special teams players are included as well. Even though the SEC had the most players listed with six (two on special teams). There are no skill players from the SEC listed as an All-American other than in special team positions. The Pac-12 has the second most on the All-America team with two Heisman contenders, Oregon RB Kenjon Barner and USC WR Marqise Lee. Alabama is the only school with multiple players selected due to their highly talented offensive line. The hog mollies on the O-line make up for some of the explosiveness that the Tide lack in skill players. The three players selected are also NFL prospects. Guard Chance Warmack is currently the highest rated at sixth on ESPN Mel Kiper’s Big Board. Center Barrett Jones was the Outland Trophy winner for best interior lineman last season and is a favorite to win it this s...

USC assures head coach Lane Kiffin will be back in 2013

USC Athletic Director Pay Hayden assured head coach lane Kiffin before today’s game vs. UCLA that he would be back in 2013 no matter the results of the past few games. The Trojans went out and fell behind 24-0, similar to the opening of their game vs. Oregon, but mounted a comeback that fell short 38-28, as UCLA will play in the inaugural PAC-12 championship game and not the...

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley upset with Saban’s play-calling

The Alabama Crimson Tide lost their first game since November 5th of 2011 last weekend to the Texas A&M Aggies and their Heisman candidate quarterback Johnny Manziel. Now people are questioning Nick Saban and his play-calling. Even the Governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley seems to think Saban didn’t know what he was doing when he allowed AJ McCarron to pass the ball from the...

Tennessee gets penalized by NCAA for Kiffin-era infractions.

The Lane Kiffin era at Tennessee lasted for one brief shining season, but the legacy of the former Vols/current USC head football coach lives on in the form of NCAA sanctions. To makes things worse for The Vols, the NCAA just decided to add on some new sanctions to go along with the pre-existing ones. Blame these on former Vols' defensive backs coach Mack Garza, who paid for...

Saban on Nussmeier: "He's doing fine"

Notebook: Head coach Nick Saban thinks offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeir is "doing fine" in his first year at Alabama despite many questioning his play calls on the final drive of last week's loss to Texas A&M.

SEC news & notes: Nick Saban, Georgia, Johnny Manziel, and more,

Covering Dixie Like Mildew Everyone's a critic. Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley becomes the latest person in the state to second-guess Alabama head football coach Nick Saban's playcalling in the loss to Texas A&M. (al.com) No good deed goes unpunished. The SEC's admission of Texas A&M and Missouri to its ranks this season may have in the end cost the conference...

Q & A with USC wide receiver Marqise Lee

USC wide receiver Marqise Lee is the Biletnikoff Award favorite and a late-breaking challenger for this year’s Heisman Trophy. The 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore is one of the most explosive, versatile and productive players in college football. Through 10 games, he has 98 catches for 1,447 yards and 13 touchdowns, 110 yards rushing and 677 yards and a score [...]

USC Trojans: Is Lane Kiffin Coaching For His Job At USC Over Final Few Games Of 2012 NCAA Football Season?

The USC Trojans were expecting big things in 2012. They had Heisman Trophy favorite Matt Barkley back at quarterback to lead them back to a BCS Championship, as well as an experienced and talented wide receiving corps plus a top running back transfer in Silas Redd from the Penn State Nittany Lions. Everything seemed to be lining up for Lane Kiffin to lead USC to a national championship...

VIDEO: Lane Kiffin, 11-15-12

USC Coach Lane Kiffin speaks with the media following Thursday's practice as the No. 21 Trojans prepare to play No. 17 UCLA.

USC Trojans: Lane Kiffin Has Failed; Time To Move On

I've been patiently waiting. I've given Lane Kiffin the benefit of the doubt and took the whole 'wait and see' approach to Kiffin. The 'fire Lane Kiffin' bandwagon has been gaining steam for awhile now. Week after week, a few more people hop onto the bandwagon, and I've been reluctant to get on. I didn't want to get on it, but after yet another game...

It's hard to believe Kiffin will last at USC

When USC coach Lane Kiffin, asked about his job security following Saturday's 38-28 loss to UCLA, casually mentioned that university higher-ups told him he would be back next season, it was as if everyone in the room arched an eyebrow in unison. Really? Kiffin, who was called a "flat-out liar" by Al Davis when he was fired by the Raiders, had earlier this season told...

Game Preview: Alabama vs. Western Carolina

After a tough two-week stretch, the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide must refocus, regroup and regain its identity Saturday against an FCS opponent. As head coach Nick Saban said this week, "I don’t think that we need to be worried about who we’re playing as much as we need to worry about how we’re playing."

SEC Quick Hits: Week 12

No. 4 Alabama 49, Western Carolina 0 Hope you're happy, Coach Sumlin: This game was over before it began. One of the many FCS Sothern Conference teams the SEC will square off with Saturday, the Crimson Tide got back on track after its upset at the hands of Texas A&M, taking out the Catamounts, 49-0. It was Nick Saban's defense's third shutout of the season, the first...

Washington making the rounds

Four-star TE Jacory Washington, ranked No. 3 in the nation (among 2014 prospects) at his position, visited Tuscaloosa on Saturday as the Crimson Tide hosted Texas A&M. Get his reaction to that game, find out what Coach Nick Saban had to say, and hear about where he'll visit next (LSU)...

No. 4 Bama gets bounce-back game against FCS WCU

Western Carolina coach Mark Speir has dealt with some of the challenges Alabama faced in recent years as the team everyone badly wants to beat. It makes Saturdays that much harder, if decidedly less daunting than taking a 1-9 Football Championship Subdivision team to face the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide (9-1), which is coming off its first loss of the season. Speir was an assistant...
