The Oregon Ducks football is currently under investigation by the NCAA for recruiting violations that took place during the 2008-2011 seasons. According to a report from the Oregonian, the Ducks have agreed that they are guilty of one major violation and have proposed a two-year probation period along with a reduction in one scholarship per year over three years. The Ducks and the NCAA, however do not agree on the severity of another violation, as the NCAA sees the Ducks’ relationship with Texas-based talent scout Will Lyles, who received a $25,000 payment from the university. Oregon sees it as a secondary violation, while the NCAA sees is as ‘another major violation.’ Via the Oregonian: The next step for the Ducks is to appear before the NCAA’s committee on infractions sometime this year; the committee will have the final ruling on the recruiting violations and penalties. Monday evening, the university released 515 pages of documents to The Oregonian — which were requested in December — shedding more light in the continuing saga surrounding the Ducks’ hiring Lyles and other recruiting services.
