Oregon 62 – 51 USC Heading into Saturday the Oregon Ducks did not have a signature win on their 2012 college football resume; that all changed Saturday evening with a blowout victory over the USC Trojans in Los Angeles. Oregon used a prolific rushing attack and sound air attack to dismantle the Trojan defense and pile up over 700 total yards. Though the Trojans did accumulate 51 points on the night (8 of them coming in garbage time), Oregon had control of this game from its start to its finish. The Ducks jumped on the board early to secure a 7-0 lead after easily finding their way through a Trojan defense on the first drive of the game. USC would answer with a field goal but the Ducks took their next drive for a touchdown as well, giving them a 14-3 lead that never saw the Ducks look back. Oregon, who has been one of the best offensive teams this year, were reluctant to give anything to the Trojans, scoring on nearly every drive they had the ball. In fact, the Ducks did not punt until the final minutes of the game when it was all but officially won. Here are this weeks love ‘em and hate ‘em from Oregon’s game against USC. Love ‘Em Unfazed on the Road A lot of people thought the Ducks would let the road atmosphere of 90,000 plus get to them on Saturday evening; they could not have been more wrong. Oregon, despite facing their toughest test on the road this season, looked calm and collected throughout the entire contest, not succumbing to the pressures of the road. Marcus Mariota held his own as he efficiently led the Ducks down the field, throwing for 304 yards and four touchdowns while accumulating no interceptions. To say that Kenjon Barner ran all over USC is an understatement. (Photo: Kval.com) Despite one fumbled snap, Oregon was nearly perfect on the road last night as they showed USC who the better college football program was. Kenjon Barner Plays a Full Game Let’s all just get to the point: Kenjon Barner was ridiculous last night. Throughout the entire season many have been wondering what Barner could do if he actually played a full game. After coming out of games after the first half because of a big Oregon lead, Barner showed his potential on Saturday night as he rushed for 321 yards and 5 touchdowns while averaging 8.4 yards per carry; barely any words explain just how good Barner was last night. With his impressive effort, Barner showed the nation exactly what he could do over the course of an entire game and jumped right into the Heisman picture, with some even proclaiming him as the Heisman front-runner. The New Pac-12 Standard For quite a long time the Trojans were the Pac-10/12 standard of excellence. Although the Ducks had commanded the Pac-12 in recent years, many still believed the Trojans would return and hold reign over the conference. That all changed on Saturday night as the Oregon Ducks proved that they are the new Kings of the Pac-12. Though they still have much to accomplish this season, Oregon is now the Pac-12 standard of excellence, something many Oregon fans have known for around two years now. Hate ‘Em Announcers All Over USC The problem with watching the game on TV was that we had to listen to Gus Johnson and the Fox broadcasting crew gush over the Trojans all game. Don’t get me wrong, Johnson is a good announcer but his bias was prevalent throughout the contest; it all culminated when he was gushing about how classy USC was for not kicking an onside kick at the end of the game even though they just went for two. Yeah…right. Defense was where? Ok, so the Ducks may have been missing three starting defensive linemen but they could not get pressure on Barkley all night.
