OSU Sends Allen Tape to League OfficeThis past Saturday, the Ohio State Buckeyes snuck into East Lansing and came away with a 17-16 win over the Michigan State Spartans. Apparently, though, the coaches of these two teams aren’t willing to let the game end just quite yet.  Urban Meyer announced on Monday that Ohio State has sent tape of the game to the Big Ten offices.  The video, in question, allegedly shows Michigan State offensive lineman Jack Allen gouging the eyes of OSU defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins. Ever since the game clock struck zero, the chippiness between these two teams has magnified ten fold.  Immediately after the game, Michigan State coaches could be heard complaining about another set of tapes. During the week prior to a game, schools are supposed to swap game film as a courtesy to help each other prepare.  MSU defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi claims that there was some malfeasance on the part of the Buckeyes, as they sent over altered footage of their plays.   The Spartans seemed to think that this maneuver was done to gain a competitive advantage. Of the tapes Narduzzi said,
“A few other teams we talked to that they played, and we compared what they were looking at on tape to what we were looking at.  We’re like ‘We don’t see any of that. We see it on their tape but not on our tape.’ So that’s something I’m sure the Big Ten office will hopefully take care of.”
The Big Ten would take no action in this matter and told the two schools to work this problem out on their own.  Per reports, this issue has now been “resolved”. Obviously, there’s no love lost between these two programs.  Both Mark Dantonio  (and more likely Pat Narduzzi) and Urban Meyer are probably already looking forward to meeting each other again next year.  Maybe next year’s game will turn out to be as exciting as all the squabbling that took place after this year’s game.
