What could be a big week for Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is already off to a roaring start. Manziel, who was named the SEC's offensive player of the year earlier in the week, capped his 20th birthday Thursday by winning the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award. Manziel received the award at The Home Depot College Football Awards in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. He'll be honored at the Davey O'Brien Awards dinner in February in Fort Worth. Manziel shared the spotlight with teammate Luke Joeckel. The junior offensive tackle from Arlington High won the Outland Trophy as the nation's best interior lineman. He's the first A&M player to ever win the award. Manziel is also the first Aggie to ever win the Davey O'Brien. He was a finalist for the award along with Ohio State's Braxton Miller and Kansas State's Collin Klein, who is also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. Earlier Thursday Manziel was named to the Walter Camp All-America first team along with Joeckel and junior defensive end Damontre Moore. Manziel is the first A&M freshman to ever receive first team All-America honors and the school's first freshman to nab that honor. Manziel and Joeckel gave the Aggies two Walter Camp honorees on offense for the first time since 1940 when Marshall Robnett and John Kimbrough were honored. Another Texas A&M offensive lineman Jake Matthews was a second-team pick. It wasn't just a big night for the Aggies either. Baylor receiver Terrance Williams was also a first team Walter Camp selection. It marks the second-consecutive year a Baylor player has made the team. Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III was a second-team pick last year. TCU cornerback Jason Verrett was also a second-team choice. He's the fourth TCU player in the last five years to make the Walter Camp team.
