Found November 09, 2013 on College Spun:
The North Carolina Tar Heels, who have had a disappointing season thus far (3-5) in 2013, got more bad news when their star senior quarterback, Bryn Renner, was ruled out for the rest of the year after injuring his shoulder against NC State this past Saturday. UNC will rely on backup signal-caller Marquise Williams to right the ship, as the Heels need to win three of their last four games to become bowl eligible.  But to the opposition – which today is UVA – things may not look so different on the field. Williams will be wearing Renner’s No. 2 jersey to honor his injured teammate.  Starter Marquise Williams will wear No. 2 today to honor injured QB teammate Bryn Renner. — Carolina Football (@TarHeelFootball) November 9, 2013 Renner’s college career may be over, but it’s pretty cool that his teammate wants to honor him in the team’s remaining games.

Video: Military Father Surprises Children At Virginia-North Carolina Game

The North Carolina Tar Heels (4-5, 3-3) continued their impressive rally from a 1-5 start to the 2013 season for homecoming on Saturday as they rolled over the Virginia Cavaliers (2-8, 0-6) to the tune of 45-14. The Tar Heels had been thriving as of late with a two-quarterback system, but this was their first game since starting QB Bryn Renner underwent season-ending surgery on his...

North Carolina Football: The preview… Virginia

UNC needs to be ready and not make this one a trap game How much has changed when it comes to Carolina football this season? From pre-season thoughts of winning the division, to what was a hard, if not harsh, first month, that included a loss to East Carolina, to then several games where head coach Larry Fedora’s team came close, just not close enough, to winning. And finally,...

North Carolina Football: The recap… Virginia

Great all around win by the Tar Heels There was nothing much that was going right in the first four games of the season for North Carolina (4 & 5 ~ 3-1 ACC), as the team kept giving up big plays on defense and were not able to get on track on offense. In the last five games this squad has improved each and every week. The result of that is a dominating effort and victory over...

Video: A Military Father Surprises His Children At North Carolina Game, Gets Great Reaction On Field

There was just a very, very cool moment at Kenan Stadium before the start of the North Carolina-Virginia game. The Tar Heels brought a military family to midfield and played a special video on the jumbotron, honoring a father who has been away from his children while serving his country (his name is not made clear in the video). The kids were then surprised by their father on the...

North Carolina rolls past Virginia 45-14

Marquise Williams recorded a touchdown passing, rushing and receiving to help North Carolina beat Virginia 45-14 on Saturday. Ryan Switzer had a punt return for a touchdown and Dominique Green had an interception return for a score for the Tar Heels (4-5, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). North Carolina extended its winning streak to three games while posting its fourth consecutive...

North Carolina Helps Navy Dad Surprise his Family on the Field

I can't remember the last time that I saw a video clip of a member of the military surprising his/her family. Yeah they were pretty common for awhile. I know some folks that got tired of them, but I can honestly say I loved each and everyone. There is just something about seeing the pure joy on the face of a little kid that hasn't seen his daddy in months that gets me misty...

Paige Paces Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With its depleted roster, Marcus Paige accounted for 92 percent of No. 12 North Carolina’s returning made 3-pointers entering Friday’s season opener against Oakland. The sophomore guard tied his career high with four 3-pointers in scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Edmunds a Frequent Visitor

Tremaine Edmunds has attended half of North Carolina’s home games thus far and could return to Chapel Hill this Saturday when the Tar Heels host Virginia.

UNC 45, Virginia 14

Well if you wanted a game that had a little of everything from the UNC standpoint, this was it. Carolina hit the scoring superfecta, finding the end zone via rush, pass, kick return, and defensive touchdown. The Tar Heels broke the 200-yard rushing mark as a team for the first time in ages and both a receiver and a running back completed passes. UNC played light out on defense as...
