You know it is a big game when ESPN rolls their college football pregame in to town. ESPN’s signature show has set up shop in College Station, Texas for this weekend’s highly anticipated match-up with Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M hosting the two-time defending BCS champion and top-ranked Alabama in a huge SEC West battle. But where will they be next week? Nobody seems to know outside of the tight-lipped GameDay crew. Next Saturday @CollegeGameDay is headed off the grid. Not a traditional hotspot. We’ll announce it Saturday. Any guesses? — Chris Fowler (@cbfowler) September 12, 2013 So GameDay is heading “off the grid,” according to Chris Fowler, the show’s host. A quick glance at the football schedule shows there are not a whole lot of attractive options. Fowler has already suggested Provo, Utah is not exactly off the grid as far as GameDay is concerned. That likely means BYU’s home game against rival Utah is out of the running, although GameDay has only visited Provo once since going on location on a weekly basis. Rutgers vs. Arkansas? There is some mild intrigue in the match-up, but how much of a story is there to follow here? It is worth noting that Rutgers will be retiring Eric LeGrand’s number this weekend. Connecticut vs. Michigan? It makes sense considering the recent hype surrounding the Wolverines and how close UConn is to ESPN’s home base, but GameDay was just at Ann Arbor, Michigan for last week’s game between Michigan and Notre Dame. It would not be unprecedented to include a team so soon after appearing but in this case it may not be the most likely scenario. My personal pick may be a bit of a reach. Washington State hosts Idaho next weekend in a rivalry match-up. The Washington State upset of USC all of a sudden has Mike Leach and the Cougars believing in the progress being made within the program and we all know the Washington State flag has traveled across the country for years since the show has yet to pull in to Pullman, Washington. Could the drought be over for Washington State fans? Regardless of where the show ends up, it certainly created quite a buzz on Twitter with fans guessing where the bus will head next. If it does end up at Washington State, remember where you heard it first. The announcement will be made during Saturday’s show.
