On the offensive side of the ball, I think we got exactly what we expected from Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals on Sunday. The defense on the other hand was a pleasant surprise. I think we all knew that the team had talented players on defense; however the Cards were inconsistent defensively last season.
Vance Bedford’s bunch more than stepped up in the season opener. Louisville gave up just 273 yards to a team that features one of the top quarterback/running back duos in the country. The Cards allowed less than three yards per carry on the ground. Defensive captain Preston Brown spoke to media following the game and was more than pleased with his team’s performance.
