The Spartans head into Camp Randall tomorrow to play Wisconsin. Recently, these games have led to high-scoring games decided on late touchdowns. This one ... has the look of something a little different. The Badgers struggled early this season and have been picking it up of late, while Michigan State started off well but is on a 1-3 slide.    To see what to expect from Wisconsin this year, I got together with MadTown Badgers to talk Badgers football. (See my responses here.)   The Little Brother Blog: Going into the season few -- if any -- would have expected Joel Stave to play. How much has his development meant to this team?   Madtown Badgers: Well, I will say this much, count me in the few that did expect him to play. Having seen him in person for two spring games he came out of both as easily the most impressive player. Having said that, I was more surprised how little confidence this offense had with Danny O'Brien behind center.    ...

Opponents know Badgers will reload

ROSEMONT, Ill. When Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan discussed his team Thursday morning during the Big Ten basketball media day, he casually slipped in that Josh Gasser would take over the starting point guard role for graduated senior Jordan Taylor this season. If media members and college basketball fans are interested to see how the transition works, so are Big Ten players themselves...

Gasser Done for the Season

No.23 Wisconsin hasn't played an exhibition game, yet the Badgers suffer a huge personnel loss when junior point guard Josh Gasser - the presumed starter for UW this season - tears his ACL in practice Saturday and is ruled out for the season.

When Sparty meets Bucky, it's a battle

MADISON, Wis. There will be no regular-season trophy on the line, no fancy name for some kind of heated decades-long feud when Wisconsin and Michigan State meet Saturday on the football field. Five years ago, the term "rivalry" didn't even exist when discussing these two teams. But if a better matchup has developed in Big Ten play since that time, you'd be hard...

Sunday Morning Hangover: Is Indy Slip Sliding Away for Badgers?

One play away. It's what coaches always tell their backup quarterbacks and it rang true on Saturday afternoon at Camp Randall as Joel Stave was sacked on the very first offensive play of the 2nd half, breaking his collarbone in the process. In stepped Danny O'Brien, the original week one starter, and down went the momentum that the Wisconsin offense had seemingly been building...

Michigan State @ Wisconsin Recap: Offensive Frustration, Futility, And Functionality

Through three quarters of football this game looked entirely like every other disheartening game we have had to endure this season. The defense was doing everything it could to keep the team in the contest but the offense kept proving itself lacking. Nothing displayed this continuing problem more clearly than when Marcus Rush blocked a punt in the second quarter and set the offense...

Michigan St-Wisconsin rivalry good as Big 10 gets

Michigan State vs. Wisconsin lacks the history of Michigan-Ohio State, to say nothing of that border war's hype. It doesn't cause statewide angst like Michigan-Michigan State. There's not even a cool trophy for the winner, like Paul Bunyan's Axe or the Old Brass Spittoon. When it comes to Big Ten rivalries, however, there's none better than the Spartans vs. the...

Spartans Break Badgers Hearts Again in 16-13 OT Snoozer

This one will hurt, no question about it. Wisconsin blew a 10-3 lead with just 6:06 left in a game that saw both defenses dominate. However the Badgers defense would crack late and that allowed Michigan State to spoil Wisconsin's homecoming in a 16-13 overtime victory at Camp Randall.  Adding insult to injury is the uncertain status of a shoulder injury to Badgers starting...

Michigan State Vs. Wisconsin Preview

Saturday. 3:30 PM. ABC. Camp-Randall Stadium. It goes down. Over the past 2 years, the Michigan State-Wisconsin game has been probably the best, if not most important, game in the Big Ten. It has also become possibly the most heated rivalry in the Big Ten in recent years (Ohio State and Michigan fans may disagree, but come on- be real here). Coming into this year, the game in Madison...

Pair of QB Injuries Put Big Ten Division Races In Doubt

Two of the three biggest games of the week took sudden and sharp turns with major injuries as No. 22 Michigan and No. 25 Wisconsin both suffered losses. They also both suffered losses of their starting quarterbacks as Denard Robinson and Joel Stave were knocked out of each game. According to reports the injury to Stave is perhaps the more serious of the two as he suffered a broken...

Putting the Money Back in G$

If this doesn't make you hate the Steelers then I don't know what will. On Tuesday, I announced that there would be no gambling advice post this week as I had other things planned. That was clearly a lie. I rarely have anything planned in advance (although my Election Preview is coming next Thursday or Friday and it is quite casually racist). Then I thought long and hard...
