Maryland will be forced to deal with a quarterback situation that may be unprecedented in college football when they host Georgia Tech Saturday. Incredibly, the Terrapins lost their fourth quarterback of the season to injury in last week’s 20-17 loss to Boston College. That leaves them without a scholarship quarterback on the roster for their tilt with the Yellow Jackets.
In response, head coach Randy Edsell said this week that true freshman linebacker Shawn Petty will be moved to offense and take over at quarterback. He was a high school option quarterback of some note last year in Maryland, according to reports.
This development leaves Maryland in an almost untenable situation and this week’s college football odds reflect the premise. Georgia Tech, despite being throttled 41-17 by BYU last week, are solid 8-point favorites against the Terps.
