The Patriots are getting an early start on 2013 acquisitions. New England signed defensive tackle Armond Armstead from the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Armstead had six sacks and 43 tackles with the Argonauts in 2012. He was also named to the CFL All-Star team as a rookie. The 22-year-old USC product sat out his senior 2011 season with the Trojans due to medical problems. He suffered a heart attack in March of 2011. He has since sued the school for causing the condition by repeatedly injecting him with the pain killer Toradol. Armstead went undrafted in the 2012 draft because of his medical problems, but used his year in the CFL to prove himself to the NFL. He was released by the CFL earlier this month in order to pursue his career in the United States. Photo via Facebook/CFL
