Stanford's star linebacker Shayne Skov was arrested after being caught driving under the influence. According to a report by the university's student newspaper, The Stanford Daily, the junior was arrested after being pulled over near his on-campus residence in the early hours of Jan. 29. The university's Department of Public Safety released an incident report listing Skov as the alleged offender. "We have an expected standard of excellence and conduct for our football players and Shayne failed to adhere to those standards," head coach David Shaw said Monday in a statement to the paper. "It's a matter we are taking very seriously," Shaw said. "Shayne will be responsible to adhere to any legal responsibilities regarding this event, along with internal ramifications, which will be determined by the program."
