Talk about sleeping with the enemy.  Saturday night brought yet another plot twist in one of the most intriguing stories of this year’s high school football recruiting season. Linebacker Reuben Foster, who has long been considered to be the nation’s top inside linebacker in the 2013 class, reportedly cut his official visit to Auburn short to take a surprise trip to Tuscaloosa where he was spotted on Alabama’s campus with elite Georgia running back prospect Alvin Kamara.  Alabama wide receiver Christion Jones seemed to confirm Foster and Kamara’s presence in Tuscaloosa with a tweet that has since been deleted. Reuben Foster’s recruiting saga began when he transferred across state lines from Troup County High School (Ga.) to Auburn High School (Al.) before start of his senior season last fall after his coach at Troup County was fired. Foster had been an Alabama commitment since July 2011, but he de-committed from the Crimson Tide and held a press conference in July 2012 to announce his intention to sign with Auburn shortly after changing high schools.  At the time of his commitment to Auburn, Foster stated that “I have a lot of respect for Alabama, the coaches [...] and the fans, but, at the end of the day, I feel like Auburn is the place for me and my family. I am 100 percent confident with my final decision.” (via The Auburn Plainsman). Foster went on to make national headlines when he followed his commitment to the Tigers by getting a large tattoo of Auburn’s logo on his forearm.  Foster later insisted that the tattoo was in memory of his late cousin who played for Auburn. After Gene Chizik and his staff (i.e. Trooper Taylor) were let go after Auburn’s 3-9 season in December, the 6-2, 230 lbs. linebacker de-committed once again. With National Signing Day coming up next week, Foster’s high school coach said that Foster had narrowed his choices down to Alabama, Auburn, and UGA.  Given Saturday’s events, many people are going to speculate that Foster is leaning towards Alabama.  However, if we’ve learned anything from Foster (and most high school seniors in his position), we should realize that we can’t read too much into anything he says or does during the process. Stay tuned.  I don’t think we’ve seen the last twist in this story.
