PLAYERS: Jeremy Eddington
TEAMS: Rice Owls
I love college football. There is just something about the emotion and passion of not just the players and coaches, but the fans and pretty much everyone in and around the game. At this level of the game it still appears to be about the game, having fun, and doing something special as a team. It is fun to watch whether you are at home, at the stadium, or hanging out with the guys at the bar. It isn't just the game that makes it fun. In the heat of the moment we get to see players, coaches, and fans do all sorts of goofy things. When you watch the you can't help but think 'D'oh!' because you know the person involved just had a serious brain fart. Half way through the first Saturday of action there are two clear candidates for the Homer Simpson Play of the Day: Rice kick returner Jeremy Eddington calling for a fair catch in the second quarter: @SBNation/Twitter and Florida Atlantic Head Coach Carl Pelini calling for a spike when it was four...

Rice band mocks Manziel for autographs

Yes, the bandies got in on the Johnny Football autograph-for-pay fun. Rice's marching band wore shirts printed with Manziel's signature on Saturday.

Rice's band gets in on the Manziel-bashing fun

The Rice Owls players made sure early during Saturday's game against Texas A&M they weren't going to just hand the Aggies a victory despite the odds stacked up against them. Even when the current Heisman-winner Johnny Manziel stepped on the field in the third quarter after serving his first-half suspension, the Owls didn't back down with some autograph-related jabs...

Rice linebacker making most of Manziel 'autograph' play

Maybe Johnny Manziel could learn a thing or two about self-promotion from Rice linebacker Nick Elder. It was Elder who Manziel gave the autograph motion to during Saturday's 52-31 Texas A&M win. And while Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin said after the game he didn't see the third-quarter incident, Elder is making sure everyone knows he was involved. Elder took to Twitter...

Johnny Manziel makes autograph gesture

Johnny Freakin' Football just doesn't care. Is the Texas A&M quarterback signing an air autograph for a Rice Owls defender?

Rice Linebacker Defends Johnny Manziel’s “Signature” Moment On Twitter

Johnny Manziel’s return to the football field was a breath of fresh air for college football fans – for a few minutes. Manziel immediately stirred up controversy by making a fake signature gesture towards one of Rice’s players – Nick Elder. But if you ask Elder, there was no controversy – they’re actually friends. Elder took to Twitter to defend Manziel. @espn I was...

Rice Linebacker Nick Elder Comes to Johnny Manziel's Defense

Johnny Manziel had to wait a half to make his debut for the 2013 college football season, but once he got on the field he wasted little time putting his own stamp on the game. If you listen to the commentators and most of the media you'd think that he acted like a spoiled brat having a temper tantrum on national television. I'll admit--I wondered what the heck he was...

Video: 57-Yard Run By Taylor McHargue Sets Up Rice TD For 7-0 Lead On Texas A&M

Everyone is talking about Johnny Manziel being suspended for the first half of Texas A&M’s season opener against Rice. However, there is that whole defensive side of the ball that needs to be paid attention to. The Rice Owls have an upset on their minds, and have taken a 7-0 lead on the Aggies after a defensive stop, then successful drive, to begin the game. Taylor McHargue...

Video: Rice’s Jordan Taylor Goes Up And Grabs A Sick Touchdown Pass Against Texas A&M

There’s no question which early game has caught the eye of the nation on opening weekend — the Texas A&M-Rice matchup has been a good one through one half of play. The Aggies lead 28-21 at the break, but Rice is in good shape after pulling within one score on this fantastic touchdown catch by Jordan Taylor off a tipped pass from Taylor McHargue: Manziel returns in the second...

Rice WR Jordan Taylor catches a tipped ball and takes it in to the end zone

Rice Owls wide receiver Jordan Taylor caught a ball that was deflected by a Texas A&M Aggies defensive back and managed to take it into the end zone.  Unfortunately for the Owls, Johnny Manziel came back in for the second half and the Aggies rolled. [The Big Lead]

Johnny Football was back to doing what Johnny Football does best on Saturday afternoon, score-boarding the Rice Owls en route to a 52-31 win for the Aggies.

Johnny Manziel Makes Autograph and Show Me The Money Gestures In First Game Back (GIFs)

As I have told you earlier today that I hate college football, there is one player I don’t dislike.  That’s Johnny Manziel.  ”Johnny Football” apparently has decided to give the NCAA and their “rules” a big ol’ middle finger today in Texas A&M’s opening game against the Rice Owls. During Manziel’s first drive of the game (A&M’s first possession of the...
