Pete Cautilli – The Cardinal Connect There are only two regular season games remaining for Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals. Maybe it’s me, but this season has gone by faster than any season I can remember in recent history. Each week it seems that more and more fans are growing frustrated with the Cardinal offense. Shawn Watson has forgotten more about football than I’ll ever know. With that said, in my opinion, the personnel on this year’s team doesn’t seem to really fit the play-calling. Although Louisville is averaging more than 30-points per game, a more aggressive offensive game plan would likely have the Cards averaging more than 50 PPG. Just my opinion… One thing that hasn’t gotten as much attention as it should is that although the offensive has grown stale throughout the season, the Louisville defense has been absolutely dominant. Other than the Central Florida game, which I know was the biggest game of the season and the only loss on the resume, Louisville has ...

Strong, No. 21 Louisville seek 1st Senior Day win

Charlie Strong hopes to send this year's senior class out with a win. For all the success the Louisville coach has achieved in four years with the Cardinals (9-1, 5-1 American Athletic Conference), he will be seeking his first Senior Day victory when Memphis (3-6, 1-4) visits. Twenty seniors will say goodbye, and it could also be the final home game for junior quarterback Teddy...

Louisville Hasn’t Won On Senior Day Since 2007

Charlie Strong has accomplished quite a bit since becoming the Louisville head coach at the end of 2010. He broke the losing streak to Kentucky, beat West Virginia on the road for the first time in program history, won a game on the road in the state of Florida and got the Cards to their second BCS Bowl game and knocked off SEC power Florida. Coach Strong’s resume speaks for itself...

247 Sports Dravon Henry, a four star cornerback from Aliquippa, PA., revealed his updated list of five schools via his Twitter account on Wednesday night with Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals making the cut. UofL Seriously Looking Into Expanding Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium Once Again

Just last month there was a slight buzz about Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium.  Is there rhyme or reason for another expansion?  Could the stadium one day be enclosed?  Head Football Coach Charlie Strong seemed down with the idea. “I think we have the most passionate fans in the country,” Strong said on Oct. 1. “I think our fans bring a lot of energy to the game. You would like...

Pitino watches newest, tallest recruit

Rick Pitino was in New York Wednesday to see his latest University of Louisville recruit in action, the 7-foot-2 Matz Stockman from Norway. Stockman is not going to be a dominating force by any means. The good news is that he doesn’t appear to be awkward or skinny for his size. Just far enough along talent wise that Pitino can develop this young man into an effective big man. Stockman...

The Heisman Trophy: 5 Reasons Why Teddy Bridgewater Is Not Worthy

There is no doubt about it.  Teddy Bridgewater is an excellent quarterback.  He has the brains and the mechanics to be quite a success in the NFL.  Does he deserve to be in the race for the Heisman Trophy?  Absolutley.  Does he deserve to be the recipient of the Heisman Trophy?  Some may say yes, but I believe he should not be the winner of one of the greatest races in all...

Rick Pitino Says The Media Needs To Do Their Homework

Boston Globe Following Louisville’s blowout win over Hartford last night, it took exactly two minutes for a reporter to ask head coach Rick Pitino about the recent Kevin Ware speeding ticket/missed court date. It was Courier-Journal columnist Tim Sullivan who lobbed the question that we all knew would eventually be asked. “I’m not going to play a player because he got a speeding...

Pitino may have let Kevin Ware down

All the air seems to have gone out of the Kevin Ware story for now, perhaps just another 24-hour news story. Rick Pitino, showing where his priorities lie, putting Ware in the University of Louisville’s basketball game against Hartford with just over 11 minutes to go in the first half. He would play six minutes in the game. Afterwards, Pitino would criticize the media for jumping...

Louisville Leads The Country In Assists-To-Turnover Ratio

Pete Cautilli – The Cardinal Connect Rick Pitino’s team has been impressive in many different areas so far this season. Their defense always looks solid at this time of the year, however Tuesday’s performance was one of the best I’ve ever seen from a Pitino coached team. The offense usually takes a little bit of time to start gelling, but so far in 2013-14, the Cards offense...

Montrezl Harrell Hoping To Show Roy Williams & UNC What They Missed Out On

Pete Cautilli – The Cardinal Connect Louisville sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell has been tabbed as one of the biggest breakout players in the country prior to the start of the 2013-14 college basketball season. So far so good for Harrell as he’s averaging 14-points and 9-reboudns per game. He’s had a combined 27-points and 24-rebounds in Louisville’s last two games. As...

Louisville 87 – Hartford 48: Cards Hammer Hawks

Pete Cautilli – The Cardinal Connect Let’s be honest with ourselves. Teams like Hofstra, Cornell and Hartford aren’t great measuring sticks at this point of the season. With that said, regardless of the competition, Rick Pitino’s team looks dangerously good right now. The Cards came out tonight against Hartford playing as if it were the season opener and they’d been upset...

Cardinals dominate Hartford

Montrezl Harrell had 20 points and Russ Smith scored 14 in third-ranked Louisville's 87-48 win over visiting Hartford on Tuesday night.

Montrezl Harrell helps Cards slam Hartford

Montrezl Harrell had a huge game on Tuesday night as the University of Louisville rolled over Hartford 87-48 at the KFC Yum Center. Harrell finished just one rebound shy of his first career double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.
