The Sports Bank:
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Denard Robinson pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license but still remains eligible to play in U-M’s inevitable Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina. He paid a fine and faces no additional punishment from the university. The Wolverines suspended three players from this game earlier this week including their punter, who got the Big Ten punter of the year award, and starting corner J.T. Floyd.
I’ve joked about Denard being a single threat QB for quite some time; long before he got hurt and was essentially converted to a running back/all purpose back receiver type player. That’s because even when he was healthy I didn’t think he could throw and he was an overrated player. And I got sick of him being referred to as a “dual threat.” It’ll be interesting to see how/where Robinson fits in at the NFL level. Maybe a punt returner?

MESSING WITH TRADITION
After Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon said that the Alabama game would be the only game that Michigan would wear special uniforms for, the Michigan Football Twitter account unveiled these new uniforms today.Honestly, I’m not a fan, not even a little bit. I would be okay with the jerseys, since they’re basically the Alabama jerseys but with blue striping; but messing...
The University of Michigan football program prides themselves on maintaining the tradition that they have had since the beginning of time. The winged helmet which was borrowed from Princeton (where former Wolverine head coach Fritz Crisler once coached) and Michigan State. Suspended Michigan senior cornerback J.T. Floyd had released a statement apologizing for his recent suspension from the Jan. 1, 2013 Outback Bowl. The suspension, for the ever-vague "violation of team rules" effectively ends his college football career.
Part of the apology includes the following:
"I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the University...
Here they are.
Can't say I love the unis. Actually not at all. Maize numbers are an interesting choice. Looks to me like the maize's don't all match up. I've been waiting for the day when Michigan would attempt a matte helmet. It's not bad. At least the maize isn't chromey like MSU's green or OSU's red when they played us.
Michigan senior captain Jordan Kovacs has one game left wearing the winged helmet but he's not spending his time looking back on an exciting career. Kovacs talks about the development of Dennis Norfleet at corner and more.
Michigan senior offensive guard Patrick Omameh discusses the Wolverines mindset as they prepare to head down to Florida on December 23rd, the recent suspensions of three teammates and the difficulty playing along the offensive line early in a career.
This is exactly what Michigan was hoping for when John Beilein was hired as coach in 2007.
Over the last six seasons, the Wolverines have built a program that can again challenge for a national championship. After an 81-66 victory over West Virginia on Saturday night, Michigan is 11-0 and sitting at No. 2 in the AP poll - its highest spot since the Fab Five era.
After improving his play at a steady rate this season and emerging as Michigan’s best one-on-one post defender, Jon Horford was sidelined once again after his left knee buckled during the Wolverines’ game against West Virginia on Saturday. (Photo: Dustin Johnston)
All that was known at the time was that Horford had injured the same knee he twisted earlier this season. On Wednesday...
