If you missed the SMU-Rutgers game Saturday (of course you did) you missed the craziest two-point conversion in the history of craziness or two-point conversions. Let's set the stage:
Rutgers jumped out to an early 21-0 lead in Dallas and extended it to 35-14 in the third quarter. With 11 minutes left in the fourth SMU finally inched back in the game, but failed on the extra point to make it 35-20. The Mustangs cut the lead to 35-27 with 3:38 left, then added six more with just under a minute left in the game, needing a 2-point conversion to make up for the earlier miscue.
Seriously? Are your freaking kidding me? Garrett Gilbert should've been tackled by six Scarlet Knights before getting that pass off:
And THAT CATCH:
The Mustangs eventually fell 55-52 in 3OT, but at least they'll have an ESPY nomination to dull the pain next summer.
