The son of LSU coach Les Miles, Manny Miles said his dad had only seen three of his games before Friday's Louisiana Class 2A semifinal game -- and this time, the University High right-hander put on a show.
He threw a no-hitter through five innings -- his second no-no of the season, with the last coming in March -- as the No. 4 seed Cubs beat top-seeded Calvary Baptist 12-1 to advance to the championship game against Evangel. The third-seeded Eagles would beat University High 2-0 on Saturday.
On Friday, Miles (11-0) would face the minimum of there batters in four of his five innings. His five base runners would come on three walks, an error and a fielder's choice and he struck out three.
I love having my family behind me, Miles told "The Advocate" (Baton Rouge). Theyre my biggest supporters. Theyve been there for me when Ive had bad years and when Ive had good years. Theyre always there.
Les Miles, who with over 107,000 Twitter followers is the most-followed coach in the nation according to a recent "Tulsa World" article, expectedly had a lot to say after his son's performance.
