A fifth year senior wide receiver from Marshall University, Antavious Wilson was a four-year contributor for the Thundering Herd. We talked with the Marshall Thundering Blog about the Pahokee, Florida product.   Tale of the Tape Height- 6’ 1” Weight- 196 pounds Class- Senior   Can you give some background info on him and a quick overview of his career? One of eight Pahokee High School, Fla., seniors to sign a Division One football scholarship in 2008, Antavious Wilson had one of the great rookie campaigns at Marshall. After redshirting his first year on campus, Wilson busted onto the scene in 2009, catching 60 passes for 724 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wilson tore his ACL mid-way through the 2010 season and it affected him throughout 2011 as he only caught 29 passes for 462 yards. Fully recovered for his senior year, Wilson finished second on the Herd with 69 catches, 741 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.    What are his strengths and weaknesses? One thing that always stood out to me about Wilson was his ability to get open, especially on sideline routs. He does not have great speed, size, or hands.   He had a big freshman season and then regressed his sophomore and junior years before rebounding as a senior. What do you think are the reasons for this? Definitely the torn ACL he suffered mid-way through 2010, it took Wilson a year and a half to fully recover.    Which NFL receiver would you compare him to? I would compare him to former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and current Washington Redskin Dezmon Briscoe. They have similar size and like Brisoce, Wilson has a knack for getting open in the end zone.    What do you think his ceiling is in the NFL? Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate everything Wilson did at Marshall. Especially overcoming a devastating knee injury and putting together a great freshman and senior campaign. If he can stick on an NFL roster, I see Wilson’s ceiling as a fourth or fifth wide receiver and special teams contributor on kick and punt coverage.   If you were an NFL general manager, where would you be comfortable taking Wilson? I would be more comfortable taking Wilson as an undrafted free agent.  You can follow the Marshall Thundering Blog on Twitter @MarshallTBlog.
