Every couple of years around the state of Arkansas, word begins to spread about a possible football game between the two in-state FBS football schools, the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Arkansas State Red Wolves.  A few years ago when Arkansas State graduate Mike Beebe was elected governor there was talk that he would intervene and force a game, although that never happened.  Now, thanks to a couple of state house members, there is a bill being proposed for a one-game charity event to be played in Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium.  While the idea of a $250,000 charity benefit is a fantastic idea, the game would not be an exhibition, it would count in the standings, and this is where problems arise. Longtime legendary Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles had a long standing policy of never playing in state schools in any sport, and he stood by this policy until he retired.  Of course as soon as he retired one of the first questions asked was, “when will the Hogs and Red Wolves play each other in football?” The reply generally differs depending on which fan base you ask.
