Reigning AP Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Devonte Fields will have surgery on his foot to repair an ankle injury and miss the rest of the season
The sophomore defensive end from Arlington, Texas, injured his foot in the fourth quarter of TCU’s 20-10 loss to Texas Tech. Fields posted 53 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks last season.
“He was great with it,” TCU head coach Gary Patterson said. “It’s hard for him because he’s frustrated because he hasn’t played to the level he can because of his foot and everything else going on.”
