There were three players invited to the Heisman Trophy Presentation on Saturday night in New York City. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel became the first freshman to ever win the award. Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o finished a distant second and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein was third in the voting. Almost every year there are at least four Heisman Trophy finalists invited to the ceremony. There is always at least one player who has a very small shot at winning the award, but is invited out of respect. In my opinion, Teddy Bridgewater should have been that guy on Saturday night. As you probably know, I don’t have a Heisman vote and there is a good reason for that. However, in my opinion, if Manti Te’o isn’t good enough to win the Heisman this year, then it needs be strictly an offensive award. Not to discredit what Manziel did this year, because he had a great year, but Te’o did everything you can ask a defensive player to do in order to win the award. I realize T...
