An hour before Tennessee's game against Middle Tennessee State they realized they wouldn't have a place kicker. Michael Palardy was hurt," Dooley said after the Vols' 24-0 victory against Middle Tennessee State. "He hurt himself Thursday in practice but we thought he'd be fine. He couldn't go. Then (Chip) Rhome goes out there in pregame and he pulls a muscle."

Tennessee coach Derek Dooley then went to his last resort and called up a Fraternity house where Derrick Brodus was watching football on his couch. "We didn't have a kicker," Dooley said. "And we had to make a call to the frat house. This is no lie. We called the frat house and had a policeman go get him."

Brodus was a high school kicker and a star soccer player. "Let's get a call to Brodus," Dooley recalled telling his staff, "and it's a good thing he wasn't having too much Saturday afternoon (fun). I told the coaches, 'Hey, an intoxicated Brodus is better than nobody. "Just get him here and we'll do a Breathalyzer. Fortunately, he didn't have anything bad."

Brodus said he got a call about an hour before game time and the coaches told him to get to the stadium as soon as possible. Brodus was just watching football getting ready for the Tennessee game to start, and thought he was dreaming when he received the call. He made it to the stadium on time and nailed three PATs and a 21-yard field goal. Tennessee won the game 24-0.

I'm just surprised they didn't have to pull him off a keg stand to get him to the stadium. I mean it's an hour before your team plays and your not even drinking? That's a bad fan for you right there. Your fraternity isn't even having a party? What kind of place is Tennessee? The frat game needs to step up over there. How fun would it be to be wasted kicking in front of thousands of people. Damn near the best time you could ever have.

Also, how did they get this dude a jersey? I'm betting he went out with a magic marker name on the back of his jersey. Classy.
