Texas A&M Fires Coach Mike Sherman; Not SEC Material?

As Texas A&M packs up their stuff and gets ready to move from the Big 12 to the SEC, there’s one thing they won’t be bringing- head coach Mike Sherman. As the Aggies move on up (at least conference wise) like Sherman Helmsley and uh, um whoever played Weezey on The Jeffersons, they’ll do so with a new man leading their college football program. The Aggies finished the regular season a very disappointing 6-6; I had them in my preseason top 15 . I had QB Ryan Tannehill in my NFL Mock Draft; now I’d barely put him in an Arena League Mock Draft. He does have a scorching hot fiance though. Athletic Director Bill Byrne announced the firing in a statement yesterday. Sherman went 25-25 in four seasons at A&M. He had three years remaining on his contract and the buyout will be a very hefty $5.8 million. He initially hired at the end of the 2007 season three days after Dennis Franchione resigned.
