After Texas’s 40-21 loss to BYU last Saturday, head coach Mack Brown has confirmed that defensive coordinator Manny Diaz has been fired. The school gave up a school-record 520 rushing yards during that game. Replacing Diaz will be former Syracuse head coach Greg Robinson, who was hired by Texas as an analyst. Robinson went 10-37 at Syracuse from 2005 through 2008. Then in 2009 he was at Michigan as its defensive coordinator under then-head coach Rich Rodriquez. Brown had released a statement on Saturday regarding the move, “Our performance on defense last night was unacceptable, and we need to change that,” said Brown. “Greg will be here tonight and get with the staff and players to start preparing for Ole Miss. He will be running our defense immediately. We’re very fortunate that Greg has been around, watched all of our practice video and has a good scouting report moving forward.
