By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff…
Boston Celtics Receive: Jeff Teague and Lucas Nogueira
Atlanta Hawks Receive: Rajon Rondo
Analysis: The Atlanta Hawks are still trying to contend for the playoffs with Al Horford and veterans leading the way, while developing a lot of young talent to try and become better than their Horford, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith core ever was. That team was never better than a second round playoff squad at best. The Boston Celtics are going the opposite way. They have traded head coach, Doc Rivers and future Hall of Famers. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett and are completely rebuilding. They do have one lone All Star piece left on the roster, in the enigmatic and sometimes ill-tempered Rajon Rondo, who has led the NBA in assists two years running. However, he isn’t exactly the type of player that is best to lead a rebuilding team, as he hasn’t proven to be the best leader and isn’t the type of play...

As if we needed yet another statistic in the NBA, we have the ShotScore – a Grantland writer’s method to identify the game’s best scorers.
… the method compares the actual point yield of an individual NBA shooter against an estimated tally of what an average NBA shooter would accrue from that exact same set of shots. This is a useful way to evaluate shooting because unlike...

I was born in the fall of 1991, Larry Bird’s last season in a Celtics uniform, a year in which an aging and crippled Boston team made it to the second round of the playoffs before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The next year, Kevin McHale retired after averaging only 10.7 points, his legs and back failing him. Young star Reggie Lewis died later that summer. The team went...

We've talked about the #NBARank ESPN is putting together before. You know, the one where they list the top 500 players in the NBA, slowly counting them down over the past few months.
We broke down most of the Celtics' ranks here. At that time, #500 through #90 had been counted down, and the only Cs not named were Jeff Green and Rajon Rondo.
Green later came in at #83...

The Atlanta Hawks have waived Damien Wilkins, Adonis Thomas and David Lighty.
Danny Ferry has reduced the Hawks' roster to 17.
Confirming what we all want to believe and all know to be true, Rajon Rondo will be a huge contributor to the Boston Celtics this year. While not yet ready to play, Rondo has taken on the role of mentor to Celtics rookies Phil Pressey and Kammron Taylor. Despite the Grand Canyon sized gap in experience, Rondo's approach to helping his team prepare for the season is as level...
When Thaddeus Young was a rookie he had to be patient waiting behind Kyle Korver to get playing time. When Korver was traded in late December of 2007 the door opened for Young to become part of the everyday rotation. He went on to make 22 starts by the end of his rookie season.
Over the next two seasons Young would make 116 starts. Then Doug Collins arrived and for the good of the...

Martin played in 41 games (three starts) last season for the Washington Wizards, and averaged 6.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 16.9 minutes.
