Butch Jones began his career as Tennessee’s head coach with a bang by defeating the Austin Peay Governors 45-0. The Vols hadn’t posted a shutout since 2011 against Middle Tennessee State. This victory was number 800 for Tennessee football, which Coach Jones discussed with the media after the game. “First off, I’m proud of our program for accomplishing a milestone with our 800th program victory. There are not many programs in the country that can say that, and it’s a tribute to all the great players who have come before us and have laid this tradition, this passion. So congratulations to them,” said Jones. The Vols also managed to go the entire game without a penalty, something that hadn’t happened since 2007 when Tennessee played LSU in the SEC championship game.  Check out these highlights from the game courtesy of UT Football: Junior quarterback Justin Worley got his first start since 2011 for Tennessee and went 11-of-13 for 104 yards and three touchdowns. Junior offensive lineman Antonio Richardson discussed Worley’s performance with the media after the game. “He controlled the line of scrimmage. That is the biggest thing you can ask from him. I didn’t really have to turn around a lot to hear him, he yelled a lot and did well. His confidence definitely grew. Especially when he got that long run, I saw in his eyes that he was comfortable and it was really good to know, that since this was his first start, that he was comfortable with us,” said Richardson. Tennessee’s schedule only grows tougher as the season continues. The Vols will host new head coach Bobby Petrino and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers this Saturday and then travel to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks before SEC play begins.
