Just like I do anytime I discuss something that has anything to do with football at Penn State University these days, I want to first and foremost say that there is nothing more important then the victims of the child abuse crimes committed by former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. With that said, the healing process began on Saturday with the first football game not to be coached by Joe Paterno in over sixty years. As we all know, Penn State's football program was given historic penalties by the NCAA: No postseason play for four years, loss of $60 million dollars, reduction of scholarships, and a vacation of all wins between the years 1998 and 2011. After the historic penalties came down, I said PSU would struggle to defeat good mid-major teams, let alone teams in the Big Ten Conference and other power conferences. While I figured these struggles would rear their ugly head very soon, I didn't think we would see them in Week 1 of the college football season. On Saturda...

Is the Disappointment at Penn State EVER Going to End?

By now the world knows that Penn State is a complete and utter disaster. Not only did they get raped and pillaged this off-season with legal troubles, the Joe Paterno Saga, etc.. (No pun intended) There was a substantial exodus of players before the start of the 2012 season.  It hurts to be a Penn State fan right now, it hurts. Saturday, State took the field with an opportunity...

Will Saturday be “D-Day” in PSU Backfield?

Fifth-year senior tailback Derek Day could make his first career start when the Nittany Lions visit Virginia. Unlike a certain backfield mate, he doesn't mind being called a former walk-on (or run-on).

Robinson Named Player of the Ohio Game

Allen Robinson was an effective weapon in Penn State's passing attack to open the season. For his efforts Nittany Lion fans named him their Player of the Ohio Game.

Fagnano's Fitting Fall

Sprawled out in the Ohio end zone, grasping for something well beyond his reach, safety Jacob Fagnano’s posture as the game-clinching Ohio Bobcat TD was scored felt like a fitting end to the first game of the post-Paterno era at Penn State. Fitting because Fagnano hailed from the defensive side of the ball. Everyone expected a steep learning curve on offense—especially due to...

Good news for Ohio State and Penn State fans! Hope glimmers, as the B1G Leaders Eastern Division Title may not be as clear as we once thought. A revelation that surprised and stunned most B1G followers was unleashed today. It turns out the two B1G schools currently under sanctions are eligible for the Division Title Championship. Lawyer: Sandusky regrets not testifying

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky regrets not taking the stand at his child sex abuse trial and likely will be sentenced next month, his defense lawyer said Wednesday. Attorney Joe Amendola said he has not received a presentence report for Sandusky from the county court system and the defense has not decided whether to contest a recommendation that the 68...

Penn State Spent Quite The Amount Of Money On Assorted Things Because Of The Sandusky Scandal

Per the AP, Penn State has spent about $17 million on legal fees, consultants, and public relations firms just because of the Sandusky scandal. Approximately $10 million of that went to “seven firms for what Penn State calls internal investigation and crisis communications.” Another $4 million went towards “university legal services and defense.” But remember, there’s a...

Ability to make big plays is the real issue

Penn State’s 24-14 loss to Ohio Saturday has spawned lots of comments and opinions on how this team is “fragile” and that it “ran out of gas” in the fourth quarter. I don’t buy it. That may be the case later in the season, but I don’t believe that was the case against the Bobcats. Look, all we heard about all spring and summer was how much better this new strength...

Penn State Falls to Ohio University: The Post Paterno Era Off to a Slow Start

A lot of eyes were focused State College, Pennsylvania and Penn State on Saturday, as the Nittany Lions opened the team’s first season in nearly 50 years without Joe Paterno as head coach. Even more though than the absence of Paterno, most want to know how the school would fare under the weight of some of the most serious sanctions ever levied against a major college football program...

10 Minutes or Less: 2002 Penn State vs Virginia

This season–the 9-4 campaign of 2002–was an oasis in the sea of losing seasons known as “The Dark Years.” In particular, the Nittany Lions had this game circled on their calendars for more than a year. The 2001 date in Charlottesville saw the Virginia Cavaliers come away with a 20-14 win, featuring at least one controversial fumble and a controversial offensive gameplan by...

Banks to Penn State

Penn State landed a commitment on Tuesday, going to California to pick up a pledge from 2013 forward Payton Banks.

Joe Paterno: What Ever Happened to Innocent Until Proven Guilty?

In January 2012, the beloved Coach Joe Paterno passed away after fighting many illnesses for many years.  Now his legacy has been tainted after allegations that Coach Paterno helped or aided in the conspiracy and cover up of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. After a two year grand jury investigation, Coach Sandusky was charged and arrested on 52 counts of sexual abuse of a minor; investigators...

PSU reports $17M in Sandusky costs

Penn State's costs for legal fees, consultants and public relations firms hired to help deal with the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal have reached nearly $17 million.

Can we please just ignore Penn State?

Most everyone I know delighted in the fact that Penn State lost to Ohio from the MAC on Saturday. Serves them right, was the chorus from people rightfully outraged by Penn State’s scandal. Most right minded people recognize that Jerry Sandusky was the original doer of evil, while Joe Paterno, the Penn State faculty and the pervasive religion of Penn State football made the scandal...

Mahon Thrilled With Return to Happy Valley

Randolph (N.J.) High offensive tackle and Penn State commit Brendan Mahon returned to Happy Valley for the season opener against Ohio. And although the Nittany Lions lost, he was thrilled to be back to watch football.
