First Down. The Florida Gators are ranked 5th in both the AP and Coaches Top 25 polls and it just doesn't seem right (#4 in BCS). They've beaten three teams currently ranked in the Top 10 (LSU, Texas A&M and South Carolina). For comparison, Notre Dame has beaten just three teams currently ranked in the entire Top 25. Florida's only loss came to 11-1 Georgia in a game in which they had six turnovers and still only lost by 8. In my book, the Gators should be #2. And after watching that defense tee off on Florida State on Saturday, I'd hate to be the poor suckers to draw them in a bowl game.  Second Down. Jon Embree is just one of many now former head coaches in need of a job, but the fact that he was fired after just two years is evidence of how bad things have gotten at Colorado. After going just 4-21, athletic director Mike Bohn felt the program wasn't headed in the right direction. Embree's response implied that things weren't going in the right d...

Embree suggests he got a raw deal

A choked-up Jon Embree suggested Monday that the only way he could have turned around the University of Colorado's flailing football program in his two years as head coach was to take shortcuts in the classroom and on the recruiting trail. ''If you just hire the next guy and say you've got two years, keep your fingers crossed,'' Embree said at his farewell...

Jon Embree Suggests A Raw Deal...

Jon Embree looked like he was outgunned from the word "go..." Looked like he was undermanned, undergunned, under-resourced, and left to run one of the college football programs that seems to be left to rot in a new conference... Colorado head coach Jon Embree was fired earlier this week after a 1-11 season, which is the worst year in the history of Buffalos football. The Coaching Carousel is Spinning Violently

In this "win now" era of college football immediate results are expected. Southern Mississippi's Ellis Johnson was ousted after one year and Colorado's Jon Embree after just two.
