Beyond the Combine:
The most anticipated game of the early season takes place Saturday when No. 1 Alabama travels to play No. 6 Texas A&M in a matchup of two SEC powers, and a pair of teams that are expected to challenge for the national championship.
Nick Saban and his Tide will have revenge on their minds after losing to the Aggies last November, while Texas A&M will be looking to stun the college world again and make it two in a row over their conference rivals.
Key to the matchup will be the play of Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel, who gained national attention in last year’s matchup, on his way to becoming the first freshman ever to win the Heisman Trophy.
Manziel has been heavily criticized for his off-the-field antics and taunting of opponents, and was suspended for the first half of the opening game, but no one can deny the impact he has had on the field, passing for 520 yards and six touchdowns in just a game and a half. He is the most electrifying personality in college sports and a polarizing figure, but a second win over the Tide this weekend would enhance and ever-growing legacy even more.
Standing in his way, however, is an Alabama defense considered the best around and a defense that will come into the game with a chip on its shoulder after Manziel lit them up on the ground last season. Home-field advantage may be enough to lift the Aggies, but you know Saban’s been waiting on this one, and it’s hard to see the best coach in college football and the No. 1 team in college football not finding a way to win.
In a second all-top-25 matchup Saturday, No. 16 UCLA travels to No. 23 Nebraska, while No. 2 Oregon hosts Tennessee, where the Ducks will look to continue their lightning fast start to the season.
In other key matchups this weekend, No. 5 Stanford travels to play Army, No. 4 Ohio State is at Cal, Kent State is at No. 8 LSU, No. 7 Louisville is at Kentucky, and No. 21 Notre Dame will look to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to Michigan against in-state rival Purdue in a Saturday night matchup on ABC.

Welp. It looks like some personal lines have been crossed on College GameDay today. I don’t think Alabama Crimson Tide fans (especially Nick Saban) will like this sign about Kristen Saban. Never want to see a picture of your daughter (who is quite easy on the eyes BTW) with an innuendo under it. I’m surprised this sign wasn’t confiscated at the entrance to GameDay. Now this...
Nick Saban's face turned red. His voice grew loud, into a bullying yell:
"I made a statement,'' he said. "DON'T ASK ME ABOUT THAT AGAIN.''
Saban took a non-story that nobody on earth was ever going to care about, especially during Texas A&M week -- something about a Yahoo! Sports report on a former player getting impermissible benefits and...
After Alabama won their third title in four years, Nick Saban had some unfinished business with the A&M Aggies. "Johnny Football" embarrassed the Crimson Tide on their own field in 2012.When most fans should've been bragging and discussing the Alabama Crimson Tide in the offseason, the team was long forgotten thanks to Johnny Manziel. From a Texas University...
COLLEGE STATION -- Audio from Alabama head coach Nick Saban's post-game press conference...
Nick Saban had close to a year to figure Johnny Manziel out, and he learned enough during that time to at least slow the Heisman winner down.
Manziel threw this pick six to Alabama defensive back Vinny Sunseri, and wiffed on the tackle. What exactly did Mack Brown see in him as safety?
Alabama head coach Nick Saban ended his press conference prematurely on Wednesday after he became frustrated with questions about a Yahoo! Sports article citing documents and text messages that have led to an improper benefits investigation. Former Crimson Tide lineman DJ Fluker has reportedly been interviewed by compliance officers and is cooperating with the school’s […]

Alabama head football coach Nick Saban wasn't at all too amused with the way Crimson Tide running back T.J. Yeldon celebrated a late-second period touchown against Texas A&M on Saturday. He was probably even less amused with the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty Yeldon got for making it.
After about a year of waiting, the college football world got what they wanted. It was the most anticipated rematch in recent memory. Johnny Manziel vs. Alabama gave us everything a fan could want, and more. The game began almost as an exact replica of last season’s battle in Tuscaloosa. Johnny Manziel made some serious moves to give his Aggies the early 14-0 advantage. I wondered...
Alabama Crimson Tide at the Texas A&M AggiesAlabama vs Manziel: This game will be an ego-battle between one team and one star. I was wrong in a previous article. (The article about the Aggies beating Alabama and winning the SEC West.) Johnny Manziel's distractions off the field will give an already great Bama defense even more fire. For the Aggies to win, they need to run...
Just when it looked like the Crimson Tide was going to put away Texas A&M, the Aggies forced a fumble with their backs against the goal-line, and then Johnny Manziel stepped in and immediately threw a 95-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans. Check out this play:
Evans is having himself quite a day — right now he has 247 yards receiving. And that was quite a stiff arm, too.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas Texas A&M no longer plays the University of Texas anymore but the Longhorns are never far from the Aggies thoughts.
All you had to do was head just off campus to Aggieland Outfitters to find out.
While the bookstore had several different versions of t-shirts poking fun at Saturday opponents Alabama, it was a Texas shirt that was one of the hottest sellers...
Texas A&M has retired the No. 44 jersey worn by 1957 Heisman Trophy winner John David Crow.
Crow played for coach Paul ''Bear'' Bryant and the coach famously said before the vote that: ''If John David Crow doesn't win the Heisman Trophy, they ought to stop giving it.''
Crow ran for 562 yards, had five interceptions as a safety and returned...
Does Charles Barkley have an opinion on Texas A&M starting quarterback Johnny Manziel? Of course he does, and it's negative enough to cause the NBA legend, who played for Auburn in college to root for Alabama this weekend when the Crimson Tide face Manziel and the Aggies this weekend in College Station.
Barkley shared his opinions on Manziel ESPN 1100 in Chicago'...
