After becoming one of the Crimson Tide's most recognizable faces due to his involvement in community service after the 2011 tornado, and after taking on a vocal leadership role on the team, long snapper Carson Tinker has been rewarded with a scholarship.

Long snapper Carson Tinker will play his final season for No. 2 Alabama on scholarship.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban told the former walk-on he was getting a full scholarship on Tuesday. Tinker was thrust into the spotlight last April by tragedy. His girlfriend, Ashley Harrison, was killed by a tornado after both were thrown about 50 yards from the closet where they huddled.

Nick Saban said one of the most important goals to achieve in fall camp is building depth in the secondary after losing three staters from last year's unit. But Alabama lost two more defensive backs during camp and Saban is now calling on youngsters to develop quickly to provide more depth.
Fall camp ended with Saturday’s scrimmage at Alabama. Another milestone is Wednesday when classes begin at The University. A number of Crimson Tide players got quality academic work done in summer school. And a special group is ahead of the game in its chemistry.
