TUCSON, Ariz. -- It's all in the family for tight end recruit Trevor Wood. Wood, considered the best high school players in Arizona and a three-star recruit according to Scout.com, committed to Arizona on Saturday over a bevy of top national programs, including defending national champion Alabama. He also had offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, Oregon, Oklahoma and others. Wood, entering his senior year at Scottsdale Chaparral, is listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, and Scout ranks him as the 23rd-best tight end nationally. Wood tweeted Saturday afternoon: "It's official! I am an Arizona Wildcat!! You gotta follow the people who love and the people who love you! carronethetradition!!!beardown" Tradition? Trevor's dad, David, was a first-team All-Pac-10 defensive tackle for the Wildcats in 1984. His brother, Carter, is a sophomore center who walked on at UA. And his uncle, Brent, was a linebacker at Arizona from 1983-86. Trevor's decision also continues a recent tradition of top players from Chaparral joining the UA program. Tight ends coach Charlie Ragle was the head coach at Chaparral until joining Rich Rodriguez's staff prior to last season, and the Wildcats now have five former Firebirds on the roster, including linebacker Cody Ippolito and incoming Notre Dame transfer Davonte' Neal.
