Fox Sports West:
LOS ANGELES --- USC freshman defensive end DeVante Wilson will miss the entire 2012 season after tearing his ACL during practice on Tuesday, head coach Lane Kiffin announced.
The news comes on a day in which defensive ends Wes Horton and J.R. Tavai didn't practice with an undisclosed injuries, Greg Townsend continued to walk around with a boot on his right foot, and Devon Kennard already out after undergoing surgery last month for a torn right pectoral muscle which could potentially keep him out for the entire season as well.
"Unfortunately, it's another hit (at defensive end) and DeVante actually had two really good practices in a row after being out for a long time," Kiffin said. "Unfortunately it happened in a non-live drill and I'm sure other people have the same things around the country."
Wilson is expected to have surgery "sometime in the next two weeks," Kiffin said.
Wilson, a class of 2011 Corona High grad, missed all of last season after tearing his right ACL during summer workouts and didn't enroll at USC until last spring. On Tuesday, he tore the ligament in his left knee.
At Wednesday's practice, Morgan Breslin and Kevin Greene were the first team defensive ends.
Breslin , a junior college transfer in his first year with the program, led the state with 13.5 sacks last season at Diablo Valley Junior College. Greene, a redshirt junior, has three career tackles.
For Kiffin and the Trojans, down 10 scholarships because of NCAA sanctions, the dreaded "D" word once again comes into play: depth.
"We don't have very much of it," Kiffin said of his team's depth. "It is what it is. We're just trying to do our best.
"We just got to find a way to maximize every situation we're in and find a way to get a play here and a play there out of however many guys that we can."

LOS ANGELES -- USC head coach Lane Kiffin will remind anyone who will listen that his wide receivers Robert Woods and Marqise Lee are the exception. Most players don't immediately come in and make an impact as true freshmen. For most, it takes time.
Fitting that mold is wide receiver De'Von Flournoy.

Matt Barkley's surprising return has made Southern California one of the front-runners to win the national championship.
The Trojans figured to be one of the nation's top teams this season, their first after a two-year postseason ban.
Barkley makes them a legitimate contender to win the final BCS championship before college football's playoff system kicks in.
USC finished third in the first USA Today coaches poll last month, and Rich Rodriguez, the shiny new coach at Pac 12 rival Arizona, had no problem admitting that he voted the Trojans #1. USC coach Lane Kiffin responded, "I would not vote USC #1, I can tell you that."
How classy. Except for the fact that Kiffin, umm, did.
We know because USA Today then took the...
