Fox Sports Detroit:
Alabama Crimson Tide
Air Force Falcons
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Brady Hoke made sure his Michigan Wolverines understood the week's big message.
Hoke said when he met with the media on Monday, and so did both Elliott Mealer and Devin Gardner.
"We can't let Alabama beat us twice."
Hoke is worried that, after being humiliated 41-14 by the Crimson Tide on national television, his team won't be in the right frame of mind for Saturday's home opener against the Air Force Academy.
"This is a week where we will learn about our team's leadership and our motivation," he said. "There are only 11 more guaranteed opportunities for University of Michigan football games, so we have to learn from what happened in Dallas and start focusing on Air Force this weekend."
Mealer and Gardner, though, don't think there will be a problem.
"A loss like that hurts, but we will learn from it," said Mealer. "We know that we need to step up and do a much better job against Air Force.&...

Brady Hoke thinks his Michigan team's spirits are still high following Saturday's 41-14 loss to No. 2 Alabama.
The Wolverines weren't as lucky on the physical side.
Hoke confirmed that starting cornerback Blake Countess will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL on a special-teams play early in the game. Countess, who will take a medical redshirt, will be...
Nico Johnson decks Denard Robinson. Johnson was flagged for a late hit on the play.
The Michigan Wolverines were pounded by Alabama in a 41-14 season opening loss on Saturday night. U-M was in the game briefly as they forced a three and out on Alabama’s first possession. On the ensuing drive, Michigan picked up a first down and showed signs that they were going to move the ball...

Thought of as a future star quarterback when he committed to the Wolverines as a junior in high school, Michigan junior “football player” Devin Gardner has very limited experience in his career. The original plan is all about to change for the junior, at least for right now.

While it is still very early in the college football season, after the first weekend of local Big Ten play, it’s clear another new Heisman Trophy contender may have emerged from the state of Michigan. Friday night in a nationally … Continue reading →
This may just be a shock to everyone, but players for the Michigan St. Spartans do not like Michigan. I know, just a crazy revelation. A few Spartan players let anyone who followed them know about it during the Michigan/Alabama game. Many of them cracked jokes and ripped on Denard Robinson, as the Crimson Tide [...]
University of Michigan football sophomore cornerback Blake Countess (Owings Mills, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) will miss the remainder of the 2012 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in last Saturday’s game against Alabama. The loss to the Crimson Tide was bad enough, but now there’s injury added to insult for the Wolverines.
Countess started six of...
During Saturday night's ESPN college football television broadcast of the Michigan-Alabama game on ABC, the audio was cut for a few seconds as Brent Musburger was talking at the 2:30 left in the third quarter. As the audio came back, viewers saw Kirk Herbstreit laughing and Musburger admitting to a Freudian slip. Naturally, everyone wondered what Musburger said. Fortunately...
The toughest of tests was too much for coach Brady Hoke and Michigan. This was Alabama - still at its very best.
After an 11-win season and BCS victory in Hoke's first season, the last thing the Wolverines expected was to start year two with a confidence-shaking performance.
''Obviously, we didn't play Michigan football, and that's something that bothers our...
These are my preseason scouting reports. They are meant to just lay a foundation for where these players are going into the 2012 College Football season. Obviously when I do final scouting reports on these players after the season, things will change. No guarantees they will change for the better, and I do my best to be objective and pragmatic. You all may take that as being...
Michigan still on right path, but far from elite
The Michigan Wolverines thought they were back after having a quick turnaround season under Brady Hoke ending with a victory in the Sugar Bowl and creating strong momentum in recruiting over the past year. The stains left from the Rich Rodriguez were seemingly removed but in ironic fashion it was Tide that brought them back. Crimson...
Week 1 of the college football season is in the books, and it was not memorable. Here's the Tuesday Lowdown to help heal those wounds.

Despite forcing Alabama into a three-and-out on its first series and looking like they could be formidable opponent, the Michigan defense was completely overmatched the rest of the night. They did record two sacks (and Will Campbell was looking quite nimble on his) but they were dominated up front by the best offensive line in the country.
Alabama's defense gave Michigan no room...
