((ht: goducks.com)) So, along with the other things going on this morning, the University of Oregon learned what the NCAA has decided to do with the charges of recruiting violations and using a non-compliant recruiting service (Wille Lyles). And it's not nearly as bad as it probably could have been. Here's the abridged version: The NCAA found 6 issues-- 1) Recruiting violations by the owner of a recruiting/scouting service how became a representative of the school's athletic interests 2) Use of said service which didn't comply with the NCAA legislation 3) Impermissible calls by non-coaching staff members 4) Too many football coaches 5) Former head coach (Chip Kelly) failed to monitor 6) Failure to monitor by the institution And your slap on the wrist/penalties: 1) Public reprimand and censure 2) 3 Years probation, starting today (June 26th, 2013) 3) Loss of one scholarship for the next 2-years 4) Loss of 4 'Paid Visits' by coachin...

Chip Kelly apologizes to his former team. Image via Cleveland.com. The NCAA issued sanctions for recruiting violations at the University of Oregon that took place during Chip Kelly’s tenure on Wednesday. The penalties didn’t amount to much for the school or the current Philadelphia Eagles head coach. The NCAA Division I Infractions Committee said that Kelly and the Ducks failed...

GIF: LSUFreek sums up Chip Kelly’s reaction to NCAA sanctions perfectly

LSUFreek sums up what we imagine former Oregon Ducks coach Chip Kelly's reaction to the NCAA's "punishment" must have been like behind closed doors.

Chip Kelly, You’re a Cheater, Sir!

While the Oregon Ducks football program is getting hit with NCAA probation, many are asking where is Chip Kelly? The former Ducks coach, Chip Kelly,  is currently sitting in Philadelphia collecting on the first of a five-year, $32.5 million contract as the Philadelphia Eagles’ new head coach. On the other side of the country, Oregon was just hit with three-year probations for...

Oregon Football Gets 3 Years Probation, But No Bowl Ban

More of a slap on the wrist, than a real punishment it. Chip Kelly doesn’t care of course, because he is counting the Eagles money in the NFL now. The NCAA has placed Oregon’s football program on probation for three years and taken away a scholarship over that same span, through June 2016, for recruiting violations under previous coach Chip Kelly.

Is the NFL Going to Punish Chip Kelly Like it Did Jim Tressel?

Due to the recruiting violations committed under previous Head Coach Chip Kelly's watch the university is going to be on probation for three years, will lose a pair of scholarships, and will have the number of recruiting trips it can pay for reduced from 56 to 37 for each of the next three years. As for the...

NCAA lets Oregon off the hook

If it walks like a duck, and if Willie Lyles says it can quack like a duck, it probably could run for 1,000 yards under Chip Kelly. The NCAA released its sanctions against Oregon on Wednesday, and the report was a doozy. According to the NCAA, is Oregon now a repeat offender? Yes. Did it pay Lyles -- even though he never was mentioned by name in the report -- $25,000 for phony...

Helfrich Escapes, But There Is No Good In NCAA Outcome

It took more than two years, but the NCAA finally handed down their penalties to the University of Oregon Wednesday morning. The Ducks will lose one scholarship over the next two years, and the program has been put on probation for the next three. Chip Kelly was hit with a mean show-cause penalty...

NCAA slaps Oregon on the wrist after two-year investigation

The NCAA has done it again.  After a two-year investigation, the NCAA slapped the Oregon Ducks football program on the wrist, if you want to even call it that.  Because the Oregon Ducks cooperated with the NCAA, they seemingly decided to go easy on them despite their violations.  GoDucks.com provides details on the violations and the penalties: The violations in the case center...
