We’re now four games into the 2012 season and Louisville running back Dominique Brown’s injured knee hasn’t made much progress. Brown, Louisville’s leading rusher in 2011 is suffering from what is being called a “tender knee.” He’s missed the entire season thus far. Although Brown led the Cards in rushing last season, his absence hasn’t been noticed as much as you’d think, considering how well Senorise Perry and Jeremy Wright have played. As of yesterday afternoon, Brown was still being held out of practice. Charlie Strong told the media on Monday that Brown would still travel with the team and continue to be evaluated. He also said that a decision for a redshirt season likely wouldn’t come anytime soon, just in-case Wright or Perry were to get hurt. At this point, I’m really hoping Brown can get a redshirt season in 2012. There is no reason to waste an entire year on a player who likely wouldn’t be 100% upon his return. I’m sure not being able to play is rough for Brown. He had bee

Video: The Last Time Louisville & Southern Miss Faced Eachother

Saturday will be the 30th meeting between Louisville and Southern Miss with the Golden Eagles holding an 18-10-1 advantage in the series that began in 1949. If you can find the time, I recommend you watch these highlight videos from the 2010 Beef O’ Brady’s Bowl, which was the last time these two teams met. Both teams are completely different, but it’s interesting to see just...

Southern Miss Head Coach Ellis Johnson Discusses Louisville Match-Up

First year Southern Miss head coach Ellis Johnson spoke to the media yesterday afternoon to recap his team’s 42-17 loss at Western Kentucky and briefly look ahead to this week’s match-up against Louisville. Here is what Coach Johnson had to say about the Cardinals. “I’ve seen a lot of film on them and they are a very good football team. The thing that impresses me the most...

Andrell Smith having big season for Cards

Andrell Smith has been perhaps the most consistent offensive weapon for the University of Louisville through four games. The senior wide receiver leads the team in receptions and receiving yards. Cardinal Authority has a feature on Smith.

Video: Eli Rogers Catches Blessings Through Adversity

The WDRB Sports Crew is back at it again with another fine documentary. Columnist Eric Crawford and Sports Anchor Pat Doney teamed on this piece about the close and personal relationship between Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wide receiver Eli Rogers. This is a must-watch.

The Southern Miss department of athletics announced last Wednesday that the Golden Eagles’ second home game of the 2012 season will be a “Black Out” as the 19th ranked Louisville Cardinals come to town. Class of 2014 Swing-Man Picking Up Interest From Louisville

A member of the Louisville coaching staff (presumably Rick Pitino) is back at Arlington Country Day Academy in Jacksonville, FL. this afternoon. Pitino was there earlier in the week along with his son Richard, who is now the coach at Florida International. Arlington Country Day has quite a few prospects in the 2014 class that are receiving interest from division one schools. The...

Coach Strong Wants More Sacks

The picture you see above is just one of the four total quarterback sacks that the Louisville Cardinals have on the season. Louisville’s four total sacks on the season is dead last among all eight Big East teams. This is something that Charlie Strong would like to see change. “We missed four sacks on Saturday. We need to finish. We would like to have more sacks right now,...

These Three AP Voters Aren’t Impressed With Louisville

Video: Charlie Strong Recaps FIU & Looks Ahead To Southern Miss

Via: Quotes From Coach Strong: “We must maintain our focus this week on the road. I didn’t feel that we finished the game the way we wanted.” “We allowed FIU to rush for too many yards. On offense, we never got in sync. Teddy didn’t play best game. Overall, team is still improving.” “We didn’t practice well last week and I knew we wouldn’t play...

No. 19 Louisville wary of winless Southern Miss

Louisville coach Charlie Strong has watched Southern Mississippi struggle from afar this season. He's surprised the traditionally strong program hasn't won a game this fall. And that might be what scares him the most. ''You try to not look at a team's record because I just know this: they're going to be sky-high for us,'' Strong said. No. 19 Louisville...

What’s Up With Louisville’s Defense?

I think it’s safe to say that under Charlie Strong, Louisville has been a team that’s strength is in their defense. In Strong’s first two seasons, Louisville gave up an average of 319 yards per game. Four games into the 2012 season, the Cards are giving up an average of 339.5 yards per game. Not a huge difference in numbers there, but the one stat that stands out the most...
