My first team on upset alert for week 11 is No.1 Alabama Crimson Tide. They face off against what I consider a heated rival, the No.13 LSU Tigers. These two teams always have a street fight on the football field and I don’t expect Saturdays game to be any different. The thing that I think Alabama will struggle with is LSU’s vertical game. LSU receivers Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham could be a serious problem for the Alabama secondary. Jarvis Landry has 58 catches for 882 yards and 8 touchdowns; Odell Beckham has 48 catches for 1009 yards and 8 touchdowns. With Alabama missing safety Vinnie Sunseri, LSU might be able to take advantage and put up some good passing numbers. For LSU to pull off this upset the Tigers the offense to be turnover free against Nick Sabans vaunted defense. Alabama is just too good of a team to overcome even one turnover because 9 times out of 10 they are going to turn that turnover into points. If quarterback Zach Mettenberger can pass for 2 touchdowns in the first half LSU has a chance to still be in this game late. The chess match between Les Miles and Nick Saban will be just as interesting to watch as any of the on the field matchups. Saban has had a week to prepare for LSU and judging by Sabin’s record after a bye that does not bode well for the No.13 Tigers. Alabama is clearly the better team but LSU has very good skill players who can blow a game wide open with one play. The LSU defense is not as feared as past years so I expect Alabama to try to establish the run but also pass a little more than usual simply because the game will be closer than they are used to. Ultimately, I think Alabama will win this game 28-24. LSU will keep it close but we all know once Saban gets to make his half time adjustments things start to drastically change on the football field. Both teams have a lot to lose but if Alabama somehow loses this game it is going to send the nation in a frenzy.
