Silas Redd has been a spectator for most of fall camp dealing with an undisclosed injury. While he was out, hes seen some of USC's younger tailbacks hit the ground running. When those teammates take the field at Hawaii for Thursday's season opener, Redd will once again be a spectator from Los Angeles. The Trojans leading returning rusher, who ran for team highs of 905 yards and nine touchdowns, will not be making the trip, USC head coach Lane Kiffin announced. Redd used Twitter as a platform for his thoughts. Gonna hurt to not travel with my squad tomorrow but I know y'all gonna handle business in a few day! I'm working to get back 100 FightOn! Silas Redd (@Coast2CoastSii) August 27, 2013 Running back D.J. Morgan, whos missed just about all of training camp also with an undisclosed injury, won't be making the trip either. Earlier in the week, Kiffin said he had a feeling there would be "number of guys" to not make the trip due to injury. If the staff ruled a player out for Thursday's game, they would be left behind to rehab. Redd and Morgan were among the ones to fall into that category. That leaves freshmen Justin Davis and Ty Isaac, along with Tre Madden, and Buck Allen to share the carries. Three of those players have never carried the ball in an NCAA game. Allen carried it just six times last season. If Davis or Isaac start on Thursday, that person will join former Sylmar High star C.J. Gable as the only true freshmen to start a season opener at Tailback U. As far as a starter, however? "We don't have one yet," Kiffin said. The USC head coach did reveal some starters. Before the team departed Tuesday, he announced Josh Shaw and freshman Su'a Cravens will start at safety. As for the quarterbacks, Kiffin says he knows who will go first on Thursday but declined to reveal his selection. "I'm not going to tell you the end of the movie before you go to the movie, right?," he said. "Now you're going to have to watch."
