After describing the upcoming NFL Combine as the toughest test of his life, USC quarterback Matt Barkley will not be throwing the football at the annual tryout. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news early Monday morning. This move doesn’t really come as too much of a surprise. Quarterbacks prefer to throw during their pro-days, tossing the pigskin to receivers they are more comfortable with rather than players at the combine.
Barkley is also recovering from a separated shoulder he suffered in November. Schefter reports that Barkley might run at the Combine, but nothing has been set in stone as of yet. The signal caller has proclaimed his shoulder as 85-90% recovered and Barkley has already been cleared to throw at the USC Pro Day which is scheduled for March 27.
Barkley also failed to appear in USC’s bowl game and did not play in the Senior Bowl last month.
