Playmaking strong safety Brian Blechen is expected to be back in Utah's starting lineup for Saturday's Pac-12 opener at Arizona State after serving a three-game suspension for violating undisclosed team rules. The 6-foot-2 junior is listed as the starter on the new depth chart and coach Kyle Whittingham said Monday he expects Blechen to play very well based on his effort the past month while working with the scout team. Blechen had three interceptions and three forced fumbles last season, and blocked a field goal. In his 2010 college debut, he intercepted a pass on the first play of overtime to set up Utah's upset of Pittsburgh. The Utes also expect running back John White back from an ankle injury and free safety Eric Rowe back from a strained hamstring.

BYU coach confronts taunting Utah fan

If you have to rush the field after your team comes away with a crucial win early in the season, do so without screaming “you suck!” in the face of the opposing head coach. And if you must scream “you suck!” in the face of the opposing head coach, don’t do it to a guy who is named Bronco Mendenhall. I admittedly know very little about the BYU head coach, but his name...

BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall scares away Utah heckler (Video)

BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall was heckled by a Utah fan as he was walking off the field after Saturday's 24-21 loss to the Utes. Apparently the Utah fan got under Mendenhall's skin, because the Cougars coach turned and took a few steps towards him. Although Mendenhall had police escorting him off the field, he still managed to scare the Utah fan, who...

If you watched Saturday night’s late night in-state rival game between the Utah Utes and the BYU Cougars, you know the scene towards the end of the game. It was pretty hectic as the Utes won three times. The first win came after an incomplete pass that sealed the deal as the clock ran out. But after fans rushed the field, the play was reviewed and found to have one second left...

Video: Crazy finish to BYU-Utah game

The Utah Utes defeated the BYU Cougars, 24-21, on Saturday. That isn't necessarily a big deal. The manner with which how they did is though.Trailing by three points and driving late in the fourth quarter, BYU completed a long passing play to put itself within field goal range. Instead of attempting a game-tying kick, the Cougars got greedy and tried to gain a little more yardage...

(Eds: Adds details, quotes. With AP Photos.) By LYNN DeBRUIN AP Sports Writer As Utah quarterback Jon Hays met with reporters this week, giant red turf burns were visible along both elbows and he spoke of soreness throughout his body. For a player once without a team, then so far under the radar two freshmen were generating more buzz, Hays was hardly complaining. The QB not recruited...
