Saturday will be the 30th meeting between Louisville and Southern Miss with the Golden Eagles holding an 18-10-1 advantage in the series that began in 1949.
If you can find the time, I recommend you watch these highlight videos from the 2010 Beef O’ Brady’s Bowl, which was the last time these two teams met. Both teams are completely different, but it’s interesting to see just how different this year’s Louisville team is to that 2010 team. Vance Bedford’s defense was thought to be a major concern heading into the 2010 season, but that defense was arguably the main reason the Cards were bowl eligible. Also, Jeremy Wright has added what looks to be about 30 pounds of muscle since that bowl game.

First year Southern Miss head coach Ellis Johnson spoke to the media yesterday afternoon to recap his team’s 42-17 loss at Western Kentucky and briefly look ahead to this week’s match-up against Louisville. Here is what Coach Johnson had to say about the Cardinals.
“I’ve seen a lot of film on them and they are a very good football team. The thing that impresses me the most...
Andrell Smith has been perhaps the most consistent offensive weapon for the University of Louisville through four games. The senior wide receiver leads the team in receptions and receiving yards. Cardinal Authority has a feature on Smith.
The WDRB Sports Crew is back at it again with another fine documentary. Columnist Eric Crawford and Sports Anchor Pat Doney teamed on this piece about the close and personal relationship between Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wide receiver Eli Rogers. This is a must-watch.

The Southern Miss department of athletics announced last Wednesday that the Golden Eagles’ second home game of the 2012 season will be a “Black Out” as the 19th ranked Louisville Cardinals come to town.
It may sound mean, but it will be a dark day for the Louisville Cardinals when they face your Golden Eagles for the 2012 Blackout game on September...
A member of the Louisville coaching staff (presumably Rick Pitino) is back at Arlington Country Day Academy in Jacksonville, FL. this afternoon. Pitino was there earlier in the week along with his son Richard, who is now the coach at Florida International.
Arlington Country Day has quite a few prospects in the 2014 class that are receiving interest from division one schools. The...
We’re now four games into the 2012 season and Louisville running back Dominique Brown’s injured knee hasn’t made much progress. Brown, Louisville’s leading rusher in 2011 is suffering from what is being called a “tender knee.” He’s missed the entire season thus far.
Although Brown led the Cards in rushing last season, his absence hasn’t been noticed as much as you’d...
