The Tennessee Titians have a potentially major problem brewing on their hands. We all know that starting QB Vince Young injured his knee during Sunday's opening football game, and could miss up to four weeks depending on the severity of the sprain. However, the Titans may have another problem with their start QB, his mental stability. The Titians needed the help of the Nashville police department to locate Young on Monday night after he went off grid. Titians head coach Jeff Fischer received a call from a friend of Young's on Monday evening stating that Vince left his house on Monday evening with a gun and he had left his cell phone at home. Out of concern for his starting QB, Fischer contacted local police to send out a search warrant to find the lost QB. Eventually the Titians were able to contact Young and he met up with head coach Jeff Fischer around midnight. After meeting with Fischer, Young was able to drive himself home. According to police the severity of the situation may have been over blown. Young did have an unloaded handgun in the glove box of his car, but there was no ammunition present at the time. After meeting with officers and his coach Vince appeared to be calm and stable enough to return to his home. However, the Titians have allowed him to sit out this week at his house to rest and recover from his knee injury. Another potential wrinkle in this entire story is the mental state of Vince Young even before Monday night. Those at the Titians game on Saturday witness the awkward situation that took place on the bench shortly before Young was injured. Vince refused to reenter the game on Sunday. Coaches are claiming he was complaining about an injured hamstring, but those near the sidelines said it appeared to be much deeper than that. Jeff Fischer had removed his headset and was getting into the face of his star QB to encourage him to return to the football field in play. Oddly enough a few plays latter was when Vince injured his leg. It is still difficult to tell what exactly is going on down in Nashville, and we may never fully understand what is going on in Vince Young's head, but it is apparent that something is not right. One can only hope that whatever is plaguing Vince that he will be able to overcome it and return to the football field. Granted football is his job, but there are more important things as the late Sean Taylor taught us. The Titians need a healthy and mentally fit Vince young when he returns to the football field and let's pray that is what they get.
