Ride The Pine:
College Football saturday has kicked off with two spectacular one-handed touchdown catches.
The first one is from UNC’s Eric Ebron who extended his body to tip the football to himself before bringing it down for the touchdown.
The second one is from Toledo’s Alonzo Russell, who fought off a Central Michigan defender, to pull in this amazing touchdown catch.
Clearly, Russell made the tougher catch. The defender hung on his arm so he was never able to use his other hand as he was bringing the ball into his body. Erbron ended up using his second hand as he dove towards the end zone.
Either way, two great catches!

The most amazing thing about Alonzo Russell’s catch, was that the Toledo wideout made a difficult (impossible?) play look entirely too easy. Playing against Central Michigan, Russell was on the other end of a Terrence Owens pass… and he needed only one hand to secure the score. Remember how one-handed catches in video games used to look fake [...]

Toledo wide receiver Alonzo Russell ran a fade route in the end zone and kept the Central Michigan cornerback at bay as he leaped sky-high to reel in this marvelous catch. Definitely a Catch of the Year candidate.

It’s always nice to get in on the MACtion on Saturdays — today Toledo’s Alonzo Russell made sure that everyone was going to watch him play, at least for a bit.
Late in the second quarter Russell made one of the best one-handed catches you’ll ever see — his hand apparently is like super glue.
Toledo’s Alonzo Russell submitted his candidate for catch of the year in college football with this sick one-handed grab in the endzone against Central Michigan on Saturday. One hell of a grab, nothing you can do to stop that.
Also, the Chippewas were sporting these sweet throwbacks during the game.
